Buy It! — Great car! This car handled like a sports car. Suspension was spectacular for a car in this price range. It was a TDI and average mielage was 50 MPG and at times it would do over 60 MPG. Solid car, no rattles or squeaks. Interior was great, easy to access everything from driving position and it looked good.

Sporty, Economical, And Comfortable — Great reliable car, never let me down when I needed it. Inexpensive to service and I save money on gas mileage. Relaxing car to drive but still sporty enough to be fun. Braking and acceleration were nothing special but adequate and the handling was very good.

Awesome First Car! — I got this as my very first car. It's been reliable, except you need to bring an extra oil can inside your trunk. The turbo will burn your oil. The trunk is very practical and one of the best for the size. DSG Transmission and Pedal Shift is a must!!

Good Car But Expensive For That Kind Of Car — Yes, once I had the bad Idea to leave Volvo for Volkswagen, It was nice to work there but I really don't like the cars that much. No value for money, bad seats, engine makes a lot of noice... it was reliable and the acceleration was ok but the handling wasn't great, brakes neither...

Great Reliable Car! — This car is great. It runs great, very clean and has been maintained. Felt very safe and always could rely on this car. This Jetta is great on gas. Great family or single car! You will really love this car.

A Beauty To Drive And Own. — Fast, drives very good. Computer chip changes the gear very fast. I got the car with 18K original miles and not it has little over 41K miles. All service done at Hillside Imports. It's where the car was originally done at. It also has an ipod dock as well.

Great Car To Own! — I've had this car for 100,000 kms and it's been good. I've lost a turbo and clutch but I've also had a few different drivers on this car. Maintenance can be costly but I've noticed that I have fewer repairs that need to be done. I've transitioned this car to my son now because I do trust it. Keep up the maintenance and it's wonderful.

Pros

Very good power, great cornering balance, awesome interior, fantastic materials and build quality, and excellent visibility.

Cons

Looks mostly like a standard Jetta, fairly pricey when new, stiff ride, blow-off valves are weak and fail, and maintenance is expensive.

A Great All-around Car! — I replaced my 2003 Jetta GLI with this car and the differences were surprising. The first impression was a lack of torque after coming from a 24-valve VR6, but better top-end power. The second impression was a far stiffer ride than the old car, but wow, what a difference in the cornering! My car had the sunroof/leather option package and was supremely comfortable with tons of convenience features which added to the driving experience immensely. The lack of power was easily solved with a GIAC computer re-flash which did wonders for the acceleration, but you had to be careful with that in the rain as the front tires would break-loose in 3rd gear! The only thing I would have done differently looking back, I would have gotten the DSG transmission...

Awesome — I loved this car!! When clean, it still looks like new, 8 years later? The only issue I have ever had is that it sounds like a truck because it is a diesel. In fact, sometimes people comment on the engine not knowing about diesels...

Pros

It has a HUGE boot!  Honest to goodness I have been so impressed by the cargo capacity.  It's a crazy-large trunk. Comfy front seats.

Cons

Not quite enough room for a 6'4" man in front and a rear facing carseat in the back on the same side of the Jetta.  The rear-facing carseat we owned did not fit in the middle of the back either.

Attractive, Efficient, Fun — The efficiency was as tested or better on long road trips, we found the seats to be comfortable, and the vehicle to be very responsive to the driver steering or asking for more power, especially in a situation like at speed accelerating to pass a car. Definitely has some get-up-and-go. We rarely experienced any lag in power. All in all a car we would buy again.
