The redesigned 2006 Hyundai Accent GLS is a four-door, front-wheel drive sedan with four-wheel independent suspension, new 14-inch wheels and all-season tires, and a 1.6-liter DOHC I4 that puts out 110-hp. A 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic are the two offered transmissions. Extra inches to the wheelbase add a few more inches to interior legroom, and a higher overall height increases headroom and trunk capacity to 12.4 cubic feet. Rear seats fold down for extra space.
The 2006 Accent GLS also gets more standard equipment, including air conditioning, a CD player, tilt steering wheel, and 8-way manual driver's seat. Other features are intermittent wipers, a tachometer, power outlets, and cupholders. ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution have been made standard this year, and side curtain airbags are appended to the dual front-side airbags. This helps earn th 2006 Accent GLS four stars in crash ratings. Power features are still optional, along with heated mirrors, larger 15-inch wheels, and a security system. High fuel economy, new styling, and the warranty are standouts for owners, but they wish the engine was more powerful.
