2006 Ford Taurus SEL Review
ProsRoomy, comfortable on long trips. ConsOver 100,000 miles, be prepared to spend around $3,000 (over a couple of years) replacing parts on the engine.

What Can I Say, It's A Ford! — Car was bought as wife's commuter car. Have had to replace the battery, alternator, starter, and a bad cylinder head over the past 3 years. Thank goodness Ford guarantees its work! (GM has the same guarantee on the cars they work on, too!). It is possible the car was not maintained well before we bought it. It does quite well now. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Roomy , Comfortable, Handles And Drives Nice. — This is our 1st Taurus andnere very happy with it. We bought it used but it's in near perfect condition. We have taken it on 300 mile ( one way ) trips and are satisfied with the gas mileage we got about 26 mpg that includes city & hiway miles. The car is very reliable even in Colorado winter driving conditions. Overall we are very pleased with it. Owner for 0 years, 7 months Miles Driven per Year:8,000

ProsNot much positive. Very average car when it's running well. ConsHorrible transmission

Don't Buy A 2005 Or 2006 — Too many problems. Something always needs fixing or replacing. I had this car for 4 years. Replaced the transmission once and it just went again. Water pump replaced. Replaced all 4 tires twice. Window switch and motor went. This car was reguarly maintained and only put an average of 10,000 miles/year. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Great Economical Car, Low Mileage — Handles great, good gas mileage, comfortable, easy to take care of, no repairs needed. Interior in great condition, exterior only has a minor scratch on front fender. Shows number of miles left before you run out of gas which is a nice feature. Primary Use: Family transportation

2006 Ford Taurus — Again, I liked this car because it was free as it was a company vehicle. Drove this vehicle very long distances (over 1,500 miles weekly) for my job and the passenger compartment and driver erganomics made this a very comfortable vehicle to drive. Mileage range was excellent for this 6 cyl but it was not as comfortable as the Five Hundred or the Sable because the shortened the drivers seat track. Primary Use: Commuting to work
