The PT Cruiser Base wagon comes equipped with an MP3-compatible CD audio system, as well as power windows and locks. Items like air conditioning, power mirrors, and a CD changer are all optional here. Keyless entry would be added as a base standard feature in 2007. The Base wagon is not eligible for many of the options offered with other trims.
This trim is only offered with one power plant option: a 2.4 liter DOHC inline four, which generates 150 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. This engine may be paired with a four-speed automatic or five-speed transmission. Fuel economy is estimated at 21/26 mpg with the automatic and 22/29 mpg with the manual.

Chrysler previously offered two distinct PT Cruiser Touring wagons, differentiated from one another by the engine. The base engine on the Touring trim is a modest 150 horsepower 2.4 liter inline four. A turbocharged 180 horsepower engine is now listed as an option. Both engines are paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. EPA estimates are 21/26 mpg for the base engine and 19/25 mpg with the turbo.
The Touring trim is one notch above the base level, and the two trims are relatively close in price. However, the Touring PT includes many of the luxury features found on the more upscale Limited trim. Extra power outlets, keyless entry, an anti-theft system, air conditioning, power mirrors and fold-flat seating for extra cargo capacity are all included. These items are added to the Base equipment list, which includes MP3-ready CD sound system, power windows and all season tires. Satellite radio, an in-dash CD changer, and heated seats are all optional.

Standard features include a CD audio system with an in-dash MP3 jacks, air conditioning, keyless entry, fold-flat seats, full power accessories, a power driver's seat, 16-inch wheels and a moon roof.
The Limited houses the same 2.4 liter inline four cylinder engine, which generates 150 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque by itself. An optional turbocharger can be added, bumping horsepower to 180 and torque to 210 pound-feet. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, but the turbo option is only available with the automatic.

This Touring Convertible is now only available with the base 2.4 liter DOHC inline four, which provides 150 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. This engine may be paired with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission, both routing power to the front wheels.
The Touring trim package is offered on both PT body styles, and it is positioned between the Base and Limited with respect to price and features. Features upgrades on the Touring trim include keyless entry, a CD audio system with an MP3 player input, full power accessories, air conditioning, and on the convertible, a power-folding top. Appearance enhancements include fog lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Chrysler's PT Cruiser is the recipient of several styling revisions in 2006. Inside, the dash and center stack have been touched up, and new seat fabrics are available. New PT's front end is now differentiated from previous models by a scalloped head lamp design and a styled grille.
PT Cruisers come with keyless entry, a CD sound system with a portable device plug-in, air conditioning and full power accessories. The GT adds features like 17-inch wheels, leather seats, and a sport-tuned suspension. Options include heated seats and an in-dash CD changer.
The GT is a high performance variation of the modestly powered compact car. The GT's 2.4 liter inline four has been tweaked to generate 230 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. This higher output can be paired with either a four speed automatic or five speed manual transmission. The extra power brings only a marginal decrease in fuel efficiency: the EPA estimates are 21/27 mpg for the manual and 19/29 mpg with the automatic.

The GT is PT Cruiser's top trim level, combining all of the luxury features of the Limited with a more potent engine. The GT houses the same 2.4 liter inline four cylinder engine as the other trims, but now with the aid of a turbocharger. Horsepower is bumped from 150 to 230, and torque jumps from 164 to 245 pound-feet. A four-speed automatic and five-speed manual transmission are available. EPA estimates are 19/26 mpg for the automatic, and 21/27 mpg for the manual.
The GT model comes standard with keyless entry, a CD sound system with a portable device plug-in, air conditioning, full power accessories, a power-folding top, a sport-tuned suspension, leather seating, a multi-function remote and 17-inch alloy wheels. ABS, traction control, an engine immobilizer, and front side airbags are all additional safety features.
