Don't Forget To Wave To Other Corvette Drivers. — Flashy and fast is the Game that the 2006 Corvette plays. This car like those that came before follows the fast car at a reasonable price. With a 6.0 400 hp V8 that replaces the 5.7 350 hp V8, the Corvette stays relevant in the performance car market. Measuring 0-60 is no longer relevant, it is better to measure 0-100 instead. Although I never got the liberty to take this car on a twisty mountain road, it still is satisfying to drive as long as your not in traffic or have the misfortune of following a cop. The Car I drove was fitted with the 6 speed Automatic with paddle shifters. While the Slush box is able to keep the acceleration close to that of the 6 speed manual, the paddle shifters are not as quick at shifting as a standard manual transmission. This corvette was fitted with Borla exhaust and it is guaranteed to turn heads when you stomp on the throttle. Like all corvettes, the bargain price creates some compromises. Although the interior is improved from the C5, it still is not fit for a car that cost about $55,000. The seats are still terrible, and when pinned in the seat due to acceleration, you can feel the framework behind the cheep padding. The steering also feels to synthetic and makes you feel sort of isolated from the road, but no worries Corvette lovers, because I believe they have addressed this in the 08’ model. While the Composite body saves weight, the rear bumper feels, well… flimsy. And when you take the car to the dealer because the targa top is rattling, pray that they don’t back the car into a Suburban. There is certain Corvette educate that one must follow when driving, always wave to other drivers of Corvettes. Secondly, never drive the Corvette like you are driving a Cadillac, You are supposed to drive this car as if your 21. The owner of the corvette I drove is 87, and he still drives it like he is 21, fortunately it has not been impounded…Yet.

Pros

Fast, sleek, handling, reliability

Cons

It isn't cheap to modify or buy, there is a lot of plastic, fiberglass isn't the easiest stuff to repair when chipped.

It Just Keeps Going And Going — This is my fastest ride to date and given the way oil prices are going it may be the last of its kind. It has more power and torque than I know what to do with, can corner like its on rails, and a liberal application of the right pedal makes all but the baddest cars on the road become distant blips in the mirror. The car looks great and drives great, I only wish I could learn to harness the full potential of all those ponies.

Every Boys Dream — I searched high and low for this car, traveled from the mid west to Georgia to look at it. The person that owned it before me had obviously taken great care of it, as he was a car guy, and his garage showed it. Fell in love at first sight.

A 10 Out 0f 10 — This is the best car for the money. As fast as cars costing twice as much. You always get a thumb up when driving. I have enjoyed it but want a ZR1 now. You will truely love this car if you drive it.

A Must Have! — I like the looks. Just the right size. Gets good gas mileage for a 400 HP car. It is very comfortable on a long cruise with fully adjustable seats on both driver and passenger side. Has nice storage space in the trunk. My wife and I easily carry enough gear for a three or four day road trip.

2006 Convertible Corvette Fully Loaded — Love the color, smooth ride, sporty, and like the way it handle the road. Great leather the tan really stands out with the tan top. Chrome wheels with corvette logo in the rims. The cd changer is good for when you want to cruise and listen to selective music without inserting one cd at a time. Great, Good Looking Ride.

2006 Corvette Coupe — My 2006 Corvette is a pretty decent car. It was purchased at CarMax in Wichita, Ks. with 20,000 miles on it and I have had only 1 issue with it. It has great power and gets nearly 30 mpg highway. The 1 issue is the clutch....I once went to leave a stoplight by revving it up and dropping the clutch and the clutch pedal stayed on the floor and the clutch smoked. This did not seem to damage the clutch as it works well when I drive normally. I would not trust the clutch at the drag strip though. All in all a pretty good car considering it's a Chevy. I'm a Ford guy with a Velocity Yellow Vette, maybe I should buy a Boss 302........

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
