Wide Bodied Sexy Beast — This is got to be the greatest car for the BIG car enthusiast. It's overall size out does all other 4x4 or SUV's on the market at that time. It has a great quiet erall evride, on open roads without surrounding noises to penertrate the interior of the vehicle, slight wind resistant noise is heard from the outside, at any speed over 25mph. Although this particular model that I purchased is slightly less powerful than the V8, it has a 4.2L I6 291HP. I have pulled well over 2000 lbs in a small trailer, and this engine struggles on the highway to pull the load. in vehicleThis car has a handly little feature that blew me away while riding, it lowers and raises based on load weight in vehicle. Also this vehicle is very weak on hill climbs, and takes a little extra push on the gas pedal to move this beast. Definitely put more into the tank when on long hauls cross country. Not in the least good on gas, only gets roughly 17-22 mph on streets or highway. The overall appearance of this car is "sexy" in my opinion, but that is just me. It has smooth clean lines from front to back, and has an overall wide body look at any angle. The interior has an overall classic appearnace, and leather seats that complement the "fake" wood looking steering wheel. Large interior with lots of space for personal gear, or cases for cross country travel with fold down seats. It has a full wheel replacement spare, and has a handy little hideaway spot for things that need to be put up, like snowscraper for your windows, emergency kit etc in rear of vehicle. So far I have roughtly 60,000 miles on this vehicle over a two year period, and have been across country 4-6 times. Cost of this vehicle so far has been in GAS and when prices are high, it hurts. he drive chain failed after 14 months and had to be replaced, but other than that, it has not hurt my wallet thus far. It is "fun" car to drive, and definitley turns heads, and I have been complemented on my "beast" several times. Keep it clean, and add some fun trim from aftermarket stores, and this car is well deserving of a ride up & down PSC through Malibu on a Sunday afternoon. I would only recommend this car to those that can afford it's high price, and the cost of gas for it's low mileage.

Recommend — I purchased the Rainier because I needed a vehicle that had the hauling capabilities once in a while. 90% of the time, I use it for a daily driver. But on the weekends, I enjoy working in my yard and needed something that can get the job done. Very pleased with this vehicle, very comfortable and quiet ride. In addition, lots of cargo room. I'm averaging 18.5 miles (mostly drive highway), but I was expecting a lot worse. It is an SUV and does weigh close to three tons! If you need a vehicle with towing/hauling abilities once in awhile, the other times a vehicle that does not punish you in a daily commute, I Highly Recommend this vehicle. Keep in mind, it is an SUV and like all SUVs, regardless of make, it will cost you at the pump. Owner for 0 years, 4 months Miles Driven per Year:16,000

ProsI like that it has a inline 6 these are strong engines. The vehicle rides smooth and is very comfortable. ConsI don't like the way the catalydic converter can be seen so noticably.

Smooth Ride — I really like my Buick Rainier it is a good dependable ride and so comfortable. I was please to see that they used an inline 6. I have had jeeps in the past with this engine and it always ran for a long time. It is a good strong engine. Primary Use: Commuting to work

I Have Never Grown Tired Of Driving This Vehicle, I'm Glad I Bought It. — Has plenty of power, no major squeaks and ratlles after 2 and 1/2 years of ownership. The 4 year/50,000 mile warranty has kept me from being out anything other than routine oil changes, etc. I had the antenna replaced for free because the paint was peeling off. It's really a nice-looking, comfortable vehicle, and I'm not sure why it never was more popular than it was. Primary Use: Commuting to work |
