Masquerading as a compact sedan, the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi is a turbo demon that tears up the roads with its 300-hp, 2.5-liter DOHC H4 turbo engine and 6-speed manual transmission. Featuring 300 lb-ft of torque, this year the all-wheel drive sport sedan gets a helical limited slip differential, a revised sports suspension, and a new outlandish choice of either gold or silver 17-inch alloy wheels. Sport seats, Brembo brakes, a large rear wing spoiler, 4-wheel ABS brakes, and a Driver Controlled Center Differential lets the driver feel in control.
New features this year are automatic climate control and a 6-speaker, 6-CD changer. The 2005 Impreza WRX STi also has a security system, full power features, cruise control, intermittent wipers, leather trim, and racy interior dash lights. Xenon headlights are both sporty and practical. Dual front airbags help earn 4-star crash ratings. The four-passenger sedan has an 11-cubic foot trunk, but the rear seats do not fold down and legroom in the back can be limited. A remote garage opener and auto-dimming rearview mirror can be added. Incredible speed, power, and acceleration keep a smile on drivers' faces, as does the tight cornering and handling. Minor complaints mention the looks of the rear spoiler, legroom, and a somewhat harsh ride.
