Upgrades over the Base include air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, full power accessories, remote keyless entry, carpeting, floor mats, rear privacy glass, and a sliding rear window.
Distinguishing exterior characteristics include fog lights, a bed liner, and alloy wheels. The Dual Sport also gets raised suspension, and 235/75R15 all-terrain white-letter tires.

The B4000 badge signifies the upgrade to a 4.0 liter V6, which delivers 207 horsepower and 238 pound-feet of torque. Buyers may choose between a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission on the 4000 models. This is the only Mazda truck available with 4WD. The 4.0 liter V6 will allow for the towing of 5600 pounds.
The 4000's 4WD system includes a two-speed transfer case, and the truck's suspension has also been raised. Larger tires have also been added.
