2005 Kia Rio Base Review
ProsPeppy engine, fun to drive, good on gas, low maintenance, smooth steering. ConsCheap interior quality, not much room, not very safe.

2005 Kia Rio Base — The 2005 KIA Rio isn't the best car, but there's a few good things to say about it. It's cute, fun to drive, peppy, has in-control handling, and it's good on gas, but that's about it. It's pretty small on the inside, but if you buy a Rio you know what you're getting into. The KIA Rio is an entry-level car, so all you'll have is A/C, Power Locks, and a Radio. Going up hill is a hassle, and the interior noise is very loud. Love it or hate it though, the 2005 KIA Rio has a cute and quirky nature, and i'd still recommend it if you just need a cheap get-around car. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsIt has excellent gas mileage, great handling and is rather roomy for its size. ConsThe little four cylinder engine is a bit sluggish on the bottom end.

Mia The Wonder Kia — This Rio is our first introduction to the Kia brand and we're very pleased! This little car has made us a solid Kia customers. It is one of our daily commute cars and our dedicated long trip vehicle. Very happy! Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsGas mileage is great Cons60k get the timing belt looked at and also mine idles really loud and vibrates!

Too Basic — I like that it is standard, but a little too standard! A 4 cylinder engine so if you blow one cylinder you are pretty much S.O.L. So far the only repairs we needed is tires and the 60k mile check up! Also the timing belt is an issue in Rios around 60k miles so make sure you get it replaced! It is okay of a car if you want something cheap. Gas mileage I get roughly 25 city and 28 hwy. The gas tank is small so it is a good and bad thing...Good when you don't have to spend a fortune to fill it, but bad that the gas goes too fast! Also my car idles really loud and vibrates! Prosfairly good gas mileage about 31 mpg Consno power and expensive to maintain

It Was The Worst Vehicle I've Ever Owned — I would not recommend this vehicle. The acceleration is horrible and loses power on hills. The bumper is thin plastic over foam. Scratches very easily. I had a lot of problems with the radio and it has a lot of wind noise from the windows which the dealership was never able to fix. Also, maintenance is a major issue. You have to do a lot of expensive maintenance to these vehicles to keep them running. I was saving up to get the 60k servicing done when my timing belt stripped out. I no longer have an engine! Found out afterwards that it's a known issue and Kia will not do anything about it. Primary Use: Commuting to work
