ProsFun, Compact, Versatile, Capable ConsBrakes, Fuel Air Vent Tube, Need Aftermarket Rims

My Sport Trac Experiences — Overall, my trac is awesome! Save for a few maintenance issues, the major complaint I have is the brakes (known for front brake problems - need to aftermarket upgrade, we've been through 2 front passenger side calipers. . .and I've lost count of pads) and we have this problem with the gas line air vent tube (it was a recalled item in the mustangs of the same year, but the sport trac somehow got away with it. . .) - it gets clogged way too easy - and then your stuck at the pump with it kicking off every 10 cents because the air cannot escape. . .the dealership says it's because of the off-roading, but we haven't done any since May long last year with this truck. . .so why is it clogged again? The other thing: the aluminum rims - we haven't done any CRAZY off-roading (like we do with the Bronco), nor have we hit curbs hard. . .but the rear rims are bent out of wack, takes like 18 ounces to balance. This truck has been to hell and back 120000kms were used to move with, twice. . .back and forth to Manitoba, off-road trips (goes everywhere the Bronco goes and then some), camping trips, we've lived out of the truck for a month, the dogs fit nicely in the backseat. . .Overall, awesome.

ProsLots of room for driver and passengers, front and back seats. Great sounding stock stereo. Versatile cargo area. Decent towing ability. Cool looking truck. High resale value. ConsBody roll issue and stock shocks are weak. Many guys upgrade the sway bar and shocks. Gas mileage is in the mid teens/gal.

If I Had It My Way, This Would Be The Last Truck I Ever Own. — This has been a great truck for me since day one. I bought it used in '07. It is perfect for camping, has towed/hauled everything I've put in/on it and it is a great looking truck. Aside from routine maintenance, I've only had to replace the alternator on it. It is at almost 130k and I know of other Sport Tracs that are going strong with double the miles. Since Ford has discontinued the Sport Trac I plan to eventually restore it instead of buying a newer vehicle.

Great Vehicle — I enjoyed the utility of the Explorer Sport Trac. The bed holds a yard of mulch easily and has deep walls. The tie downs are located outside the bed for easy access. The interior is spacious front and back. Multiple power ports in the truck and one in the bed. Great for camping. Primary Use: Commuting to work

My Old Sport Trac — Umm... I LOVED this car while in high school. I had dual exhaust on it, a grille guard, tuana (sp?) cover, and two 12 inch speakers in/on it. I also installed a new radio. But this thing flips very easily... but no damage was done when it flipped! I only had to replace the passenger mirror. Primary Use: Commuting to work

A Newer Model Would Be My Dream Car — Performance-great, but rotation of tires needs to be done more that often Build Quality-constant rotation of tires is key to the smooth ride Appearance-perfect Cost of Ownership-about $60 to fill up the tank...and lasts about 300 miles Fun Factor-crazy fun! I love my car

ProsEngine geared, spacious, sound system stock was solid ConsIn the rain with the rear wheel driving overly cautious was needed

Mind The Rain, Overall A Truly Fun Car — This car is my favorite of the cars I have had because of my needs, and the performance I got. The truck was very very spacious inside, and could fit 5 people no problem. On top of that, the gadgets that were included were very nice, and fit the truck well. The engine purred, and was geared great to allow for great acceleration with good torque response. The bed was somewhat unnecessary for me, but I found good use for it with the hard top tonneu cover. Again, it was a loaded Ford for me, but I truly thought it was a fun balanced car. The most perfect for tailgaiting.
