2005 Chevrolet Uplander Overview
Overall User Score
Based on 5 reviews
With its debut in 2005, the Uplander represented Chevy's inaugural entry into the crossover sport van market. This model has 6 trims, all equipped with a standard 3.5 L, 200 hp V6 engine with 4 speed automatic transmission. 5 of the 6 trims have 4 doors and seat 7 while the 6th seats 4.
Gas mileage averages out to 18 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway. Cargo volume behind the third row in the non-Cargo trims comes out to 26.9 cubic feet of space. Contrary to what you might think, don't count on the Uplander too much for your heavy towing needs. Max towing capacity on all trims only comes out to 3500 lbs.
Overall, drivers like the Uplander's smooth ride and modern features. On the other hand, the engine and power don't measure up to the competition and the '05 edition doesn't have side curtain airbags; look for new side impact airbags in '06. Think of the '05 Chevy Uplander as an interesting debut for a new breed of SUV.
