Decent Truck, But Watch Out For Expensive Repairs. — I needed a light truck to tow a 4500 lb. boat and for other general hauling needs. The 2004 Tundra 4wd extended cab has been able to perform these tasks adequately, however the mounting repairs have steered my opinion of this vehicle more toward the negative. Brakes are not up to snuff, particularly when towing. They are considered under-designed by the online community that own this model truck. Expensive brake repairs involved rotor replacement each time. Oxygen sensor repair is an exceptionally annoying and expensive repair for a mere $50 part. Seems like a toyota maintenance scam. Four wheel drive engagement seizes up if not used regularly. This is a common and expensive repair. Toyota did replace the rear shocks, which failed while still under warranty, thankfully. There are a number of maintenance 'cons' with this vehicle that truly do not meet Toyota's self proclaimed reliability standard. In general, the repair costs of this truck have influenced my opinion negatively regarding toyota trucks. They are no better (or perhaps worse) than the rest.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

Awesome truck for daily use and towing trailers.

Cons

Gas Mileage could be better, but then again you need the power to pass these idiots on the road.

Very Reliable Truck With Toyota Reliability And American Muscle (feels Like) — This model Tundra has been very good and reliable for transporting very large kitchen appliances for my business. Also came in very handy when I had to move from my old house! Great Electronics on board and power underneath the hood!

2004 Toyota Crew Cab 4x4 — Love it. Purchased about 6 months ago used with 70k on it. Hoping to test the Toyota reliability and drive it for years to come! Prior owner took really good care of it. Enjoy it so far. Long bed and crew cab do make the car very long, and you'll notice backing up or into small parking spaces.

Love It — gerat power for only having a 4.7 v-8. comfortable interior, more like a car than a truck which I personally like. and the truck is always handy. its fun to drive and with a small 2" lift looks badass.

A Great, Reliable Family Truck. — 4 wheel drive, garage kept, nice running truck. 69.000 miles, gently used. Rear slide down window. Rain and mud guards. Tool box. A/C, cruise, keyless lock, Surround sound, DVD player, electric drivers seat control, locks and windows. Bought it from originall owner through Toyota dealer. Newer tires, maintained along with oil change every 3 months. Some minor scrapes and very small dents. Dark grey, interior brown, back windows tinted. Runs smooth and quiet with good acceleration. Brakes work great with wet roads and quick, sudden stops. Looks very good, no engine problems. OK with gas mileage for a V-8. Very easy to drive and leather seats are comfortable. Has full back seats with DVD player and headphones. Radio controls on steering wheel and on radio.

Double Pleasure — This truck has been solidly reliable. It has excellent jump when gas is applied. Handles well except in small turns and parking takes some getting used to. It has a comfortable ride and all controls are within easy reach. It truly is the best car I have ever owned.

Great Truck, Inexpensive. — This overall is great. The towing helps when i haul atvs and dirt bikes. The truck dings up pretty easily, so be careful. Other than that its an amazing truck that can get you from point A to B and have fun at the same time.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Great Truck — Bought mine in 06 with 17k miles on it and it now has over 150k. Not ever had one problem with this truck, power is good, gas mileage good for a truck and it is the perfect sized truck for someone who wants the tweaner sized pickup. The 4.7 is bulletproof and just a great small block with good torque and horsepower. If you want a smaller truck and bed space isnt a huge concern, get the step side, it is a great looking truck. I cannot rave enough about the reliability of this vehicle. Just a solid vehicle. The motor and transmission feel just as strong as ever and the ride is very smooth. It hasnt been babied either, spending much of the time on dirt roads or on the ranch pulling small trailers. The only draw back is the small back seat, once you are an adult, the backseat is irrelevant. It basically becomes a catchall. All in all this truck has been everything and more, paying for itself over and over again.

Tundra Thunda — It is so reliable, easy to maintain, good looking, practical and fun, push of a button 4WD has been a life saver on more than one occasion (or at least so I don't have to get out of the truck) in the snow, slush, mud, cold, ice, etc. Would definitely recommend one to anyone. Even my brother likes it and he is a full size Chevy kinda guy
