2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class 2 Dr SLK230 Kompressor Supercharged Convertible Review
ProsLet's just put it this way... If you ever owned a MB sports car you will always own a MB sports car. The satisfaction of luxury and performance is hard to find, that is the reason why MB has been around for 120+ years now. Striving for the best I would say. I am very satisfied as an owner of my MB convertable sports car. I have owned BMW and other luxury brands, but they did not exactly win my future purchases later on. ConsYou buy a car for what you want. I wanted sport and luxury and that is what I got. I am not looking for a car to take my family to Disney World in.

A++ On My Supercharged 2004 230 Slk Kompressor — When I drive my car I feel like that I control the road and take on what is ahead. I feel safe because I know that my car will react and protect me. Weither its the multi air bags or just the way it handles the road with its quick stoping power and its handling. SLK is a class of Luxury and well known among MB owners. Enjoying the ride instead of just riding is a plus. I am sure when you purchase a MB you will be pleased. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Fun Little Roadster With Merc Tag — This was a nice little roadster. It was one of the first cars to have Electric/Hydraulic Hard top Convertible roof. Very good combination of Power and mileage. It had 2.3 litre engine but was supercharged to give a decent power around 197 BHP. The car would easily cruise on speeds above 240 kmph. Handling was also good. The only negative point were some noises from convertible roof when it was closed. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

The Batmobile — I first saw this car and the first thing that came to my head was Batmobile. That's what it looks like to me in my opinion. I can go on and on and on about how awesome the brakes on this car are and how much fun it is to drive. It saddens me that Mercedes Benz replaced the 4 cylinder supercharged engine with a V6 now.

Awesome Car — nice little car handles really well even tho its supercharged the 4 cylinder is still putting out less than a v6 had a few problems with the hard top coming down mine is the auto version 0-60 around 7.5 top speed is around 150-155 bose speakers sound great amazing bass with small speakers but overall decent car Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsIf you can find the rare 5speed manual in the kompressor don't pass it up. You will not be disapointed. ConsA little cramped inside if your on the bigger side.

Pulling Up In Style. — A friend's mother owns this car and on multiple occasions I drove the car to get it washed, vac'd out and gassed up. Sometimes My friend's father would tell me to "push it a bit" and I did just that. They owned the 04 SLK 230 Kompressor so it had that power you could feel surge through your foot. The twin piston brakes worked great to stop the car at high way speeds. I've only driven the automatic so I can't rate the manual version of the car buit from my experiance, the manual mode on the 5speed auto works pretty well and if timed right you could pull off a decent 0-60 time. The ride is very comfortable thanks to the leather bucket style seats and there's more head room than it looks when the top up. If you want to go on a road trip its better if you do it alone because space is limited to one bag of clothes in the trunk and less if you want the top down. Over all, it's a fun little car to buy the wife for a weekend car. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Kick Ass Girl's Sport Car — Love it! Didn't think can affort 2 MB in the garage. But it was a great deal, can't pass it up. Solid performance, runs like the ML on the highway. Considered the size of the car, great stuff. For a 5 feet wife, perfectly comfortable; for a 6 feet husband, takes a little adjustment on the seats. Who said a chick can't have a sport car. This is awsome for the fact that now chick can kick some asses with style and speed. It's definitely a fun car to drive. (Especially watching the top goes up and down. I can stand on the driveway and watch the top goes up and down...

Slk 230 - Lil Ripper — Bought the best colour for resale - Silver; has a great set of Pirellis; could do with more grunt of course. Brakes ok, starting to pull a bit but needs it's service - and rego this week. Happy for the time being, until an SL 55 AMG comes along....(sorry baby- you didn't hear that). Great black leather interior. Don't drive it much now due to employment changes - take ferry instead; but is fair on fuel. Hard top over soft top anyday - especially with harsh sunlight. Handles well, I should know, after driving home 7 hours through central nsw! Great through Victoria Pass in Blue Mtns - just watch out for boys in blue waiting at Blackheath. Overall, still running like a demon and many clicks to go... |
