Cons

Expensive to maintain......

Built Jeep Tough — Love it, but was a bit expensive to maintain in south africa, best 4x4 i ever drove, and had the pleasure to take to the Ocovango Delta and back handling everything i could put in its way...

Pros

power, off-road/trail capability, towing strength, utility, interior room, just the right amount of options/gadgets

Cons

cost of parts, guilty conscience around enviro-types, resale value

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee — this one's got the 4.7L V8 so it has gobs of power - can easily get into illegal speeds if I'm not careful! Goes pretty much anywhere. Fuel economy is ... not great... but not as bad as expected. 13.9L/100 km is what I get with combined city/highway driving. Handles surprisingly well for its size, but does feel like driving a tank compared to other cars I've driven. Doesn't exactly warm the hearts of the environmental set. Parts are expensive but I'm glad I have the Laredo and not the Limited or Overland - fewer things to break. This one has the Selec-Trac so I can be in 2WD most of the time. Also its an unusual "Olympic" edition - just in time for Vancouver 2010!

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

Lots of space, great for carrying things around, feels really cozy and drives well enough

Cons

Have had some minor maintenance issues such as the drain line backing up into the front seat but it was an easy fix. Radiator has a small slow leak that is also a common problem with the brand.

Get's It Done — I love the spaciousness and the fact that I can be a little rough with it. Some maintenance issues but overall a good car. My car is getting to be high mileage but doesn't seem to be slowing down yet. I think I can keep it for another 5 years possibly.

Very capable vehicle without sacrificing luxury

Cons

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland — I love my Jeep because It has sporty performance and handling, off road capabilities, and luxury car interior style. I currently have 36,000 miles and other than preventative maintanence this car has not needed anything extra. I like the 2002 body style much better than the current more boxy design. In short it's fun to drive and the quadra drive II 4x4 system and electronic braking stability control has saved my behind more than once. It gets great gas mileage for a full time 4x4 with an HO 4.7L V8 at 18-22 MPG pending that you feed it the 93 octane.

Pros

This vehicle has a lot of luxuries that I have never had on another vehicle.
The heated leather seats are great for winter.
The remote radio controls on the steering wheel meant I could keep my hands on the wheel and my eyes on the road.
We added a remote start to make it warm and cozy in winter and cool in summer for our little one prior to driving.
The cargo space is large enough for a stroller, full shopping trip and then some.
For all of the luxury, this vehicle also makes a reliable family vehicle with plenty of space for a family of up to 5.

Cons

The mpg for this vehicle makes it a little more expensive to drive due to the all-time 4 wheel drive and V8,  but that's to be expected with a larger engine/vehicle.

Great Luxury Ride — Overall, I found this vehicle enjoyable, safe and dependable to drive. There was plenty of space for the all demands of my job, running a business and being a mom. I would recommend this vehicle to other moms looking for a vehicle that does it all.

Great Suv For Anyone! — Great vehicle for a new driver and it's no sissy either. The Jeep can handle itself well on and off the road and it is currently stock. The car has a timeless look and is yet to appear dated on the road. I still get people checking it out when I'm driving.

Pros

Good leg room, highway noise levels are good, 4WD is excellent,  very hard to get it stuck.

Cons

Needs bigger brakes, heating A/C system not the best, seats need to be made out of better material. Fuel mileage is not that good.

I Would Buy Another One. — Overall a very clean straight forward Jeep, nothing too fancy other than the Quadra drive 4 wheel drive system, it will require a little more maintenance than the normal 4X4 but I really like it. I think the biggest problem is the brakes, they are OK for offroading but at freeway speeds they need more braking surface.

Pleasantly Surprised And Happy Jeep Owner — Parking/ebrake drum configuration is a real bear. Don't understand why they did it that way on this vehicle. The ebrake drum shoes are expensive at $30/pair and they are a pain in the butt to work on. The rest of the brakes on all four corners are disc with ABS so it stops really well. The Quadradrive 4x4 system works wonderfully in the central Oregon ever changing road conditions. Really grips the road well and the system works quietly without any clunking (like my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado K1500) or growling (like my old 2005 Chevrolet Equinox AWD). Turns really tight. Great for maneuvering in small areas.

Cons

engine problems at 68K

The Original Jeep — I obviously missed it hence the reincarnation in 2006 - pretty much identical as in customization and colors and such. Had more memories than any other car. The stuff that this thing took. I can go on and on about what I remember about this car. I absolutely loved it though. It actually held up pretty good for the beatings it took. Didn't really have all that many issues with it. Travelled the US and Canada with it. This thing was driven everywhere. So comfortable. Was the Special Edition but just the V6 but it wasn't slow or anything. I actually had the door handles, moldings, mirrors, etc... all painted to match.. diff than any other. The truck was beautiful at the time. I flipped it but into snow but it was OK but we won't go into that.
