Awesome Car — Pretty much amazing. Lots of power, very good acceleration for a 2 ton SUV able to tow a huge trailer without any problem. 114K miles and still going strong Hasnt required any major repairs in the last 25K miles. Overall a great car to drive.

2 Explorers Down... Will There Be More In My Future? — Great car. This is my second explorer. My first was a 1995 EB Explorer. I decided to get this 2002 because I was in need of cargo space and reliability. This car has been a joy to drive over the last 8 years.

Awesome Car, My Family Has Had 4 Explorers And We Loved Every Single One Of Them — Performance:handling- it handled like a car with AWD. tight cornering, little body roll. Build Quality: I put about 15k miles on the car when i had it and it never needed anything but a new tail light. Cost of Ownership: the only thing i had trouble paying for was the gas...i think it just needed a tune up

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Looks — well I like everything about my ford explorer, it has a fast pick, it rides nice, take the bumps softly, I really like that, but I am worry about what could happen to it, after all the news aand complains I have read aobut it. I hope it last for a long while. Is a 2002 ford explorer with around 125 thousands mile.

Pros

To haul stuff (Scuba gear, friends, landscape stuff)

Cons

If you want a nicer look, smoother ride, and more luxury...

I Would Recommend This As Car As A Workhorse, Go Up A Few Price Points For Luxury. — Has been a good vehicle for this price range. No major repairs, just maintenance. Performance: needs a V8, good braking, good suspension, good gas mileage. It is utilitarian to drive. If you want a better ride and more luxury, go up a couple of price points and go for the lexus SUV.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Looks Good, But Will Cost You — transmission blew out early. seems to be a recurring problem with these vehicles. dealers and auto shops laugh at you when you bring the car in because they know about the transmission problems. please do not buy this car ever.

Explorers. — Performance: In the time I've been driving my Explorer, it's performance has been quite excellent (To my standards, atleast.) It's braking, acceleration and handling are rather superb, especially for stock components. Build Quality: Only issue with 2002 Explorers as far as build quality is the rear panel, just underneath the rear window, has a reputation to crack just enough to notice, but repairing this part is futile, as it will only break again. Appearance: The Explorer's appearance has always been a welcoming sight among motorists. The only appearance issue I have with my Explorer is it's default rim's are a bit dull, both in design and color. But nothing some work time and cash can't fix. It's a matter of personal choice. Cost of Ownership: As far as I can tell, the Explorer's MPG is decent atleast, especially for me, who's primary use for the vehicle is picking up the lady, driving to class, going to the station and responding to emergencies. As far as fun factor, yes is all I have to say. It will be great once I can mount whacker lights and a radio onboard.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Great Family Car — Great SUV, has it's quirks but overall is built well. Only problem is you are not able to pull a u-haul trailer with it. Fun to drive in any condition, gas mileage is as expected for something of this size

Ok Vehicle — powerful, do not like the four wheel drive , gets 14 miles per gallon lots of extras such as 6 disk cd player, memory seat, memory gas and brake pedals, brakes fast and can go very quick very solidly built by ford

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)
