Z3. Great But Small. — great car, fun to drive and fast. maxes around 145- 150 mph. obviously has some sort of governor inside it. cost of ownership : NEW: $52,000. Repairs (free for four years) After 4 years- the window regulator broke three times, and the tranny / shifter plastic wheel broke and the whole thing needed to be replaced as an assembly. 800. A wheel striking a curb can also cost you 12-16000 dollars. The car was appraised as being 12,000 after only 4 years. Fun as a toy, daily driver, or otherwise, but dont be shocked by its depreciation, and dont expect to pick anybody up at the airport unless they have no luggage. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsGreat handling, decently quick. ConsNot great in the snow. Eats gas like a pig. Not a fan of it not having a dummy 6th.

I Love This Car. I Am Not Giving Mine Up, Ever. — Not the fastest car in the world. It's decently quick, and extremely nimble. I have yet to have any real build quality issues with the car except for having to replace the shifter knob once. The air conditioning is weak, but the heating is remarkably good. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

As A Toy, It Can't Be Beat, For The Cost. — Purchased this car as a replacement for a Goldwing motorcycle. Have never regretted that decision. It is LOADS of fun! I happened to find a low-mileage car, that had been babied. It has plenty of power, very agile. It's actually a 3.0 liter engine, manual trans, and came with a removable hardtop, so it's a great 3 1/2 season car. Since it's my toy, it doesn't come out of the garage if there's and ice or fresh snow on the ground. I have driven it on New Year's Day, though, with the TOP DOWN. I Love the body-lines on this car, far better than the Z4. Mine has not needed any major repairs. New Tires are the most expensive thing I have had to do for it. Upgraded the brakes - just because I wanted to. Holds the road, giving me as much performance as I want. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

You'll Get My Car When They Pry My Cold Dead Body From Behind The Wheel. — The car is actually a 2002 M Roadster, but it wasn't a listed choice. This is the best car I have ever owned, bar none. If you're wondering why people love their BMW's, it's because they build a car for true driving enthusiasts. Before I bought mine, I couldn’t understand what all the thrill was. I had ridden in several & was never impressed. Then I bought mine & when I finally got behind the wheel, it immediately became clear. You are instantly connected with the car & the road. While BMW may have moved to far to the right for many purists, the 3 series is still the car to beat. Hopefully they will figure out that 5000lb trucks do not an M make & Dip Sticks are required for the sanity of us old guys. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Bmw Z3 Coupe — Modded the way it is, it is one of the best handling cars out there. It's quick. It gets more attention than exotics. This is really a car for true enthusiasts. If you have a passion for such a car, you will never let it go. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Prosquick and nimble Consstock suspension too soft for track use

Z3 Upgrade — quick and nimble around the track ... too bad they removed the 6th gear for USA cars ... upgrade to ground control suspension if you plan on doing track days ... go with a staggered wheel set up 10" in rims the rear and 8" rims in front ... strut bars front and rear ... beef up the sway bars front and rear ... under chassis cross-bar should all work to stffen-up the car...
