Excellent — The car looks nice. The inside is very comfortable. The car smells great. The car rides like brand new. I've only owned the car six months, and it's only been in the shop once. The breaks and maintenance is great.

I Would Buy Another One. — I have put 65k on this car and have not had to replace anything on it.Granted other than tires and brakes and filters. It has a 2.4 litre in it,but it feels like a v-6.Pontiac is driving excitement.

Pros

The dash is pretty awesome, its got an orange color for it, oh yeah and its reliable for the most part

Cons

window regulators and its american

A Decent Reliable Car — Its been pretty good over the years, no real mechanical problems other than the window regulators going out but I imagine that would be the same on any vehicle.

Pros

performance, appearance, gas mileage

Cons

maintenance, repairs

Grand Am Plus And Minus — Positive: Great Performance, good gas mileage, nice look, holds up well, easy to work on and change oil, brakes, rotors, etc. Exhaust is good stock, still has had no trouble. Ram Air is a great asset, but clean out the intake throttle body occasionally and run injector cleaner to keep flushing the crud out that the air filter doesn't catch. Body has held up well, was undercoated and rustproofed when new. Negative/repair journal: Intake Gaskets go out every 40k miles and cost $500, wheel bearings are also an issue - get the good ones and you are OK for 50k miles or so. Think I have a minor problem with the transmission or torque converter, but will be cheaper to repair than to buy a new car. Overall: It is a great car, has lasted us 10 years and almost 100k miles, hope to get another 50-100k out of it yet, now that I know what to repair and how. I would recommend to a friend if they wanted a versitile and sporty family car with 4 doors, but yet a good performer that didn't look like a wagon.

Pros

cheap-inexpensive. easily to upgrade, very underestimated. usually cheaper insurance due to safety features. Are capable of 24 MPG in the city and 32-34 MPG on highway. traction control is a plus, saves tires

Cons

cheaply made. problems with rust. lower intake gaskets blow easily, especially if they arent installed correctly. power steering system has problems with pumps and racks going out if not maintained regularly.  transmissions break easy and have no dip stick to properly check, good one GM. Know for leaking sunroof/moonroof drains that burn up BCM and damag fuse boxes. some 99-02's have a bad gas level float so the gauge doesnt always read right.

Grand Am Gt- Not Just Your Girl Friends Grocery Getter — With a lot of money and some hard work, you can create something no one has. LOL I started with a base 2000 GT, then I upgraded everything. i upgraded the engine with 3.5L stage 2 heads and cam, S&S headers, 28# injectors with ported polished intakes. Built a performance trans with Raybestos clutches and EP differential, improved all around performance and durability. Making 289 HP and 300 FT Lbs of torque. All was good until someone totaled my car in a hit and run. :(

Pros

Factory sound system is good. Comfortable front seats. It gets up to speed quick.

Cons

Well.....I had to replace the transmission at 110,000 miles.  A week after I got the car I had to replace the air conditioning pump clutch. Fuel pump, thermostat 3 times (the thermostat is hard to get to) The controls for heat/air 1, 2 settings are out and #3 is going out. Window motor fried, power seat controls do not work, The clock radio read weird numbers at times. The electric wiring in these cars are awful. Water pump has been replaces 2x.  The shock system on my car is terrible.  Breaks and rotors wear out faster than normal.

Its A Nice Sporty Looking Car. Although I Will Never Puchace Anothe Grandam — This care that I have is a 2000 GrandAm SE 6cyl. 3.4 motor Overall, it is a money pit! I am not saying all GrandAM's are bad but this year of the car was NOT a good year. I have had mechanics tell me the same thing. I would recommend this car for maybe a short distance kinda car if you can get it cheap. This car has givin me nothing but problems. I would 30 mins. away from home and this car has left me stranded many times. I did get to know some of the towing guys real well. Sorry

Hope You Like Speeding Tickets. — Super fun to drive fast, you can take this car anywhere! easliy keeps up with any car on the road. Car was a great vehicle, don't pay too much for one, there's a lot of great cheap grand am's out there so find one that fits your budget.

Love — Although it's not a car that you would usually "hook-up", it's got a nice sporty look to it, and for the size and weight (3000lbs), it handles and accelerates very well (3.4L V6), i love this car, no regrets.

Very Happy With This Car Overall — Just and overall reliable, attractive, powerful and safe car. The A/c gets cold almost immediately, as well as the heat does in the winter time. The acceleration is very powerful and satisfying, for people who like speed. and the sound system is amazing, great quality with satisfying bass and an EQ board for you specific sound qualifications.

All In All An Ok Car — I hate clicking sounds on this car. I love the handling of this car. I like the fuel efficiency, I hate the cost off parts. I hate that the car has a chip in the key. I hate that the security causes problems on these cars
