Pros

Factory sound system is good. Comfortable front seats. It gets up to speed quick.

Cons

Well.....I had to replace the transmission at 110,000 miles.  A week after I got the car I had to replace the air conditioning pump clutch. Fuel pump, thermostat 3 times (the thermostat is hard to get to) The controls for heat/air 1, 2 settings are out and #3 is going out. Window motor fried, power seat controls do not work, The clock radio read weird numbers at times. The electric wiring in these cars are awful. Water pump has been replaces 2x.  The shock system on my car is terrible.  Breaks and rotors wear out faster than normal.

Its A Nice Sporty Looking Car. Although I Will Never Puchace Anothe Grandam — This care that I have is a 2000 GrandAm SE 6cyl. 3.4 motor Overall, it is a money pit! I am not saying all GrandAM's are bad but this year of the car was NOT a good year. I have had mechanics tell me the same thing. I would recommend this car for maybe a short distance kinda car if you can get it cheap. This car has givin me nothing but problems. I would 30 mins. away from home and this car has left me stranded many times. I did get to know some of the towing guys real well. Sorry

I Would Buy Another One. — I have put 65k on this car and have not had to replace anything on it.Granted other than tires and brakes and filters. It has a 2.4 litre in it,but it feels like a v-6.Pontiac is driving excitement.

Idk — This car has been nothing but problem after problem for me... The Service Engine Soon Light keeps coming on, and whenever a diagnostics is ran on it it says its the Temperature Intake sensor... I bought the car 2 weeks ago, and ive already had to replace: (in order) The Battery, Air Filter, Thermostat, Mass air flow sensor, Radiator, resovoir tank for the radiator, Temperature Intake Sensor, and fuel filter.... Not to mention I had to buy floor matts winshield wipers, 2 tires, and tons of antifreeze.... GRRRRR!!!! Whats going on with this CAR???

zippy, good handling, parts everywhere.

Cons

Everywhere you look there's a dozen of them... Way too common...

Even Though They're Everywhere, People Shouldn't Dis Them, They're Fun Cars. — Not too slow... But not too fast. Runs good, no major problems that weren't user error. Nice modest exterior styling, Interior looks rather sporty. Decent gas mileage, minimal maintenance. Not great off the line or in a straight line, however, it handles corners great. Wish more people would get the 5 speed.

2000 Grand Am Gt Ownership Review — I like the acceleration and styling of the car, overall quality is low though. Transmission is about to be fixed for the second time and brakes are a constant issue. The motor itself seems to be holding up well as well as the body and suspension. On the fence whether i still like the car or not...

Grand Am Plus And Minus — Positive: Great Performance, good gas mileage, nice look, holds up well, easy to work on and change oil, brakes, rotors, etc. Exhaust is good stock, still has had no trouble. Ram Air is a great asset, but clean out the intake throttle body occasionally and run injector cleaner to keep flushing the crud out that the air filter doesn't catch. Body has held up well, was undercoated and rustproofed when new. Negative/repair journal: Intake Gaskets go out every 40k miles and cost $500, wheel bearings are also an issue - get the good ones and you are OK for 50k miles or so. Think I have a minor problem with the transmission or torque converter, but will be cheaper to repair than to buy a new car. Overall: It is a great car, has lasted us 10 years and almost 100k miles, hope to get another 50-100k out of it yet, now that I know what to repair and how. I would recommend to a friend if they wanted a versitile and sporty family car with 4 doors, but yet a good performer that didn't look like a wagon.

Nice Car. — Acceleration 0-65 km is pretty fast. Tops at 195 km. Could probably get to 200. Braking? Sucks. Handling is awsome. I've noticed the front end of alot of grand am's have a rattle. Interior is nice. Clean looking. Exterior is decent. Mileage is think its like 28/34. Regular maintenance.(oil change etc.) Fun to drive although I would prefer a smaller car. Bought the car for just over 5000 with a little over 100,000 km on it. So far there has been no costly repairs.

All In All An Ok Car — I hate clicking sounds on this car. I love the handling of this car. I like the fuel efficiency, I hate the cost off parts. I hate that the car has a chip in the key. I hate that the security causes problems on these cars

Awesome!!!! — Amazing, sleek, stylish, fast, reliable. This car is spactious. It performs amazing, acceleration is amazing the V6 engine is fast enough without being overbearing. The only repairs i had to do was to put in a new ignition switch. Appearance- SEXY!!! I have a burgandy colored car and it looks brand new and it is 12 years old.
