2000 Honda S2000 Roadster Review
ProsCan't buy a better all-around sports car for the money, fun, decent power, great driving feel ConsIf you plan on it being your only car... I might advise against it...driving it in the winter is NO-GO, if it snows where you live, not the most comfortable car, can be raw and unforgving.

It's Hard To Not Like This Car After Driving One, Take It For A Test Drive, And See What You Think. — Performance - The acceleration is decent, but nothing to brag about, braking is incredible, and the handling is very good, with not too much understeer or oversteer...but it can be tail happy (Especially the raw 00-01 model years) so be very careful in rain. Overall, the handling is very well balanced and has a great feel. Build Quality - Supurb. one of the most well built cars out there today. As long as you're not doing 9K clutch dumps every day, about nothing will break on this car. Appearance - I find the Exterior to very strikingly good looking, not an over abundance of body lines, yet it still has a very aggressive demeanor. The Interior is very well built, and aesthetically pleasing...although it is rather plain. Cost of Ownership - The gas mileage is quite excellent for what it is (18ci/24hwy), but I have easily had trips averaging 27, 28 mpg before. It's all in how you load the motor. Maintenance is more costly than your standard honda, being that it's a sports car, but not as ridiculous as some of it's german counterparts. For a sports car, the maintenance is very, very reasonably priced. Don't be cheap and cut corners on things like brakes and tires though. It will bite you in the end. Fun Factor... this car is fun to drive, absolutely. It is a very track-able car in stock form, and it's a great weekend warrior. As far as a daily driver, I would advise against, rain is a no go, and the interior feels a bit cramped with the top up. The only complaint I really have about the car is that it can feel a bit underpowered at times. I recommend a little bit of boost, to solve this :) Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsGreat Looks! Handles Like a Go-Cart! Best Honda ever made! ConsWish it had Tilt-Wheel. An automatic "boot cover" like the BMW's would be nice too.

An Absolute Blast To Drive! — This is my 2nd S2000. My first one was nice, but had several alterations including a lowering kit. The car really doesn't need anything. It is awesome from the factory. This car is almost all original except for a support bar under to hood, and drilled and slotted brake rotors. All original paint and interior. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Over Great Car For The Weekends — Overall the car is great, but is made for average or short people. has awsome handling and 245hp is impressive for all motor 4cyclinder, the car looks aggressive when lowered, deffintly a high maintanced honda, isnt like your average honda civic, repairs are high, but over all good car and would make someone a good weekend car or somthing to fix and show because not to many around. ProsSpeed, handling, braking, looks hot. ConsHaving to drive it in the winter

Honda S2000 — The S2000 is the ultimate choice for those looking for a lower budget sports car. With a 9,000 redline, 240 hp on tap, 2800lb curb weight and roadholding to rival most cars on the street this car is FUN. It looks hot, the ladies love it, and you can roll in style, at speed and still get 25+ mpg. I have a spugen exhaust on mine, I felt the stock was too quiet. It adds a little something personal as well. I drive the car year round and its a blast in snow. I hate the salt and grit, but a few inches of powder and you're in for a sideways thrill ride. The only warning i have with this car is the snap oversteer. Exceed its limits by a tiny amount and you'll have some fun putting her back in a straight line. Know what you're doing before you start to push the S2000 too far. Overall, enjoy the experience! Primary Use: Commuting to work

This Car Decimates All. Well Just About. Its Faster Than My Hayabusa. =) — Fully race built and bored motor. GT35R pushing 22psi. 702rwhp@ 9300. unlike all those ridiculous civic crapbacks out there..this honda is a REAL monster! Going from a 600hp gto to a stock 2.0 was a HUUUGE decrease in performance. but this thing pulled through and caused a tornado while doing it. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

ProsNot 0-30, but 30 to (don't tell anyone 174). It will hang with any hot car up to 2002 foreign or domestic. ConsThe first couple of years it had a plastic rear window.

As Most Reviewers Said, Pure Enjoyment Comes From "driving It Like You Stole It!!!" — The best special edition car made for the price. It was hand assembled on the NSX line. It should cost a $100,000; but at most $37,000 for the CR edition which is a bargain considering you get a carbon fiber wing and a hard top for only $3K above the normal edition price. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Looks And Speed With The Honda Badge Haha — Perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Revs to 9200 rpms. Sticks to the road. Beautiful car with a long front end. Not Expensive to maintain. Fun to drive. Downside is there is not much room thats about it. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

One Of The All Time Greats! — The best car I have ever owned. Goes as good as it looks, and Honda built - so 9000rpm at every shift and the 150000th km felt better than the first! So much fun - I want another one! Just need to convince the Mrs... Primary Use: Commuting to work

My New Formula Red S2000 — Love: it's a convertible. 6-speed manual shifter is the best I ever used. Looks great, very light and agile and quick. love stock HID headlights. dislike: radio stinks! stock rims pretty small (16" rims) - but i'll change that soon! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros9000rpm over and over and over again ConsIt'll kill you if it detects any hint of weakness in your driving

It's Mine, I Love It. — I took a very good car, took it to bits and then rebuilt it. Performance is pretty good - 0-60 is 5 seconds and it'll do >160 leptons. The best thing about this car is that if you mess it up, it'll kill you - Know what you are doing or get another car :) Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |
