Just Cause!!! — I miss my SOLARA SOOO bad!!Handling was great acceleration was better!!!!braking was not to it best probley my fault.Loved the Lexus style enterior leather and fake wood grian..how i spanked so many cars on the road from chargers to 2500 diesels..lol..Loved how that car took me too cali and back with no issue...and the best part about that was i got 300 miles on 1/2 a tank and hallin 80 mph the whole way there.....Maintenance got stupid once the computer glitched but was my over ALL favorite car ever and once i have that title to the Galant I will trade for a Toyota! Buy A Camry Or A Solara! You Wont Regret It!! — It's a toyota!! Need I say more? It's 10 years old and has 153k miles, but it still runs strong all day long! And it's way nicer than any new car I can currently afford. Too bad they don't make em anymore... Primary Use: Commuting to work | ||

1999 Toyota Camry Solara 2 Dr SE Coupe Review
ProsGreat engine quality; no matter how hard I step on the gas, she can react as much as I want. ConsNo Sunroof, no alloy rims, no wings like the SLE V6 version, no 4 wheel disc brakes, suspension feels quite dangerous when I turn the corner above 40mph, too long as a coupe.

ProsIt's reliable... ConsNot a sports car, it was wrong from the beginning and still is.

Again, I Ask, Why Does Toyota Make This? — Performance: from what i understand, the older solara's have more HP than the re-designed / newer engine for the '04 - current model year. i don't understand the reasoning. you can't design a true sport inspired car without a heritage. this car is an insult to any real driver. there are plenty of other things wrong with the general approach to the design. Build Quality: like any toyota, you can set it on fire and it will keep on going. i only wish mine were scorched to death, it would add character for the how-ever-many-years i will have to drive this awful shopping cart through college. Appearance: mine is actually in very good condition, with one previous owner & purchased new (still has new car smell). but if we're considering overall general appearance of the design - i can tell you i wouldn't even notice one passing by me on the roads. Cost of Ownership: barely anything. parts can be found in a wal-mart if you needed. Fun factor: unless you find saving the environment and sipping fuel to be equivalent to a frat party, no wait... whoever finds that previous statement to be true needs to hang themselves. there is no excitement in my balls when i drive this embarrassment. the two-wheel drive is in the wrong place, the battery is in the wrong place, the front end is too heavy, ergonomics are nowhere to be found (except for the tilt-wheel opt. i guess), the roar of an engine for a proper sports sedan has been silenced to a gentile exhale - i seriously had to open my driver's door to verify i had actually turned my car on. wtf.... Recommendations: certainly a smart option for any practical person wanting a reliable car with a hint of sport. but that's the problem - you pay for only a hint. if you've driven anything german-tuned before, this will be an insult to the driving experience. |
