Pros

Excellent fuel mileage, solid performance, feels comfortable and easy to drive, not overly expensive

Cons

A bit old, the engine ocassionally grinds, not the best for winter weather in Wisconsin

The Mazda Protege — I love my car! It's not a BMW or an Audi or a Mustang, but it runs pretty well, it gets about 30 MPG, and it has a leather interior. It drives pretty nicely, and I feel in control while behind the wheel. Not to mention that if you hit the gas hard to accelerate (not too hard, and never 5+ miles over the limit), the engine will purr nicely for you. Not to mention it was only about seven grand.

Pros

great starter car to learn to race with after a few inexpensive modifications are added.

Cons

interior color combos could have been thought about more

Bottom Line For The Moneys Worth This Is A Great Car For Any Beginner Driver — performance 1.8l engine that can be easily modded to suit anybody's needs. acceleration is a bit slow at first but can be changed through performance add ons. breaking and handling was designed to to run on a track. very tight turning radius. very easy to maintain, has a very hearty engine. gas mileage is about average 20mpg. appearance is semi decent as a family car and is easily changeable with aftermarket accessories. cars are only fun if you make them fun

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

My Old Baby — my old mazda was a really fun little car, it would make a whole lot of noise and do noting, it was also great on gas i only had to fill it up every six or so months, mind you i did'nt really drive it all that often.

very good on gas and rides smoothe at speed

Cons

the auto transmission is weak and will break easily

35

It's Was A Good First Car. — It handles pretty well around corners but it has alot of body roll. The acceleration is ok for a 1.6 liter inline four cylinder engine. It is pretty light and breaks well.

Pros

Fun little car, I have a full aftermarket suspension system, and the car is amazing.  Really just needs simple things to make it really nice looking car.

Cons

The 1.8l engine has almost no aftermarket parts.  They are somewhat difficult and stressful to work on if they have over 115.000 miles.

35

Red Lined Equiped — This is a really good starter car. Its got enough power to keep you mildly excited. Its not a Honda, and it is very affordable to own.

200k+ miles and still going strong!

Cons

isn't so happy after 9 years of northern winters

25

My Timex! — cranberry colored with moon roof, tan cloth interior, a/c and 4 doors. Picked it up as a program car from Mazda Great Lakes Distributors when I worked in their offices way back in 1998 and it's run like a champ ever since.

Pros

good gas milelage, great reliability, 230k one healy coil, one alternator

Cons

this car did not like to go very fast, unlike my newer protege

35

Reliable Puddle Jumper — Bought this car to save on fuel and that it did. Overall it cost me very little in repairs over the years, up until I hit a racoon and busted a diff pin in the tranny. This car was probably one of the most dependable cars i have ever owned
