Best Vehicle I Have Owned — Slow acceleration, great braking, 4wd rules, handles tight enough to roll over Great build, solid, bounces off obstacles Interior is bare floor and non-skid adhesive strips Exterior is black as night. some body paneling is removed for a meaner custom look Gas mileage...12mpg city, 17mpg highway fun factor is off the charts if you like slow and steady

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Removable doors and top, removable rear seat, 31" All-Trails, 5 speed manual transmission. Decent fuel economy.

Cons

Inline 4 slightly underpowered for climbing large hills, highway, and towing.

Awesome Offroad And Onroad. — This Jeep has the inline 4 with the 5 speed manual. It had been very reliable and is always a blast to drive. On a hot summer day, it's nice to be able to take the top down and remove the doors for a nice airy ride. being a 4 cylinder, it is lacking on power but for simply driving around town and some light trail riding, its perfect. As always, Jeeps are very easy to modify and customize, which is what I like to do!

Pros

Great for running around or mountain trips.
Good on beach and easy to put into 4 Wheel drive.
The seats are comfortable and the rear seat is good for one adult.

Cons

BIG tires you sacrifice turning radius, to access the back seat area, you have to use to levers and they can be awkward in moving them forward, the back seat release is easy. The original soft top was a bear to remove and I think it was due to the age (16 yrs). Zippers jammed and finally the cloth ripped.NOW has new black soft-top (Sail-cloth)

Squared Away — Ease of operation and the power for a 4 cly, ease of removing top, ease of putting into wheel drive, affordability of aftermarket parts and accessors. IT LOOKS great and handles exceptionally off road. The beach is so easy in this jeep. Remember get your NC beach permit. This jeep is a work horse and runs and runs. Make sure you double check your wiring under dash panel due to off road use as the shaking can loosen wiring and cause disconnection. Always inspect your jeep before and after off road use.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Fun — Fun off and on road vehicle. Great in winter. Good to haul equipment. Removable back seat. Noisy and rough ride. It's a reliable, low maintenance vehicle with wonderful top-down potential. If you're looking for doors off, top down, go to the beach fun car, the Wrangler is it.

Solid — Not a family car, but if your wife lets you, you can have a lot of fun. I've enjoyed off-roading a few times and it's great. I leave the top down all summer and refuse to ever put it up....just watch the weather:)

Fun In The Sun W/ Puddle Jump — It's a great tool around, go anywhere car. Fun to drive, easy to park. It's a little bumpy, but that adds to the joy. Take the top down and enjoy the sun and wind, outside in nature, feel the freedom!

Cons

its addicting

Love My Jeep — Absolutely love my jeep. Offroad performance is better then any truck ive owned. Better fuel milage would be great. The "bullet proof" 4.0 has never let me down on or off the road. Ive driven my jeep from Oswego NY to Blairsville,PA and the only complaint i have is the sunburn i got from having the top down for a 7hr drive haha

It's a man's vehicle.

Cons

There aren't enough sunny days in Indiana to enjoy it with the top off.

1999 Jeep Review — I love that I can break out the welder and weld on this vehicle without batting an eye. It's a very capable on and offroad vehicle that gets decent mileage while looking relatively sharp. Convertability in about 2 minutes. Doors whip off in 60 seconds. Mine is lifted 2 inches with 31" tires.

Pros

transmission, suspension, 4wd capability, small size (park it anywhere) multi-purpose nature

Cons

fuel economy, drive axles (too weak for a 4wd) time consuming to lower the top, slow
acceleration

Fun All Weather Vehicle — high on fun, but kinda hard on the wallet at the pump for a small vehicle. It can also be a lil' pricey to fix. Jeeps really can go almost anywhere tho, anyone who ever went off-roading with me can attest to that!

Solid And Reliable — I love the ease by which you can get spare parts or add ons. I just added the black sail cloth soft-top. The five speed manual is bit slow to start off, but once you get her going no issues. The sound bar give good quality if you are not on the freeway. The thing I like most is that it actually feels like a car when on the freeway and not having to shift. it is smooth and at 65 - 70mph it's a good ride. I think a hard top would give you better noise reduction. Driving without the soft-top up is a bit loud unless you are just going local.
