1999 Ford Taurus Review
ProsThis car is not expensive and is worth buying if you can find a bargain. ConsI have nothing bad to say about this car.

I Am Glad I Own This Car. — This car drives nicely. I have owned it over a year, and it hasn't needed any repairs. The car's appearance is quite easy on the eyes although I wouldn't have colored it white. The car is durable, fast(has a v6), and can outrace most other vehicles in my city. With gas being near $3 a gallon, it usually takes $40 to fill up the tank. I haven't needed to take it in for repairs since I bought the car besides an oil change regularly. Overall this car handles nicely and gets the job done. Unfortunately since I live in South Dakota I won't be able to drive very fast thanks to all the senoir citizens. Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsDescent gas mileage, dependable ConsNone

1999 Ford Taurus — * Performance - handles well for a big four door, heavy roll in the corners and gets loose in the ass during tight maneuvers. * Build Quality - 198,000 and runs strong. It leaks just a little bit of oil but a gasket change would fix that. * Appearance -It looks like a white bloated pregnant Koi fish, but its clean and the interior is good. * Cost of Ownership - Gets about 30 miles per gallon from a 3.0 V6 * Fun Factor -Its a commuter car, not alot of fun but its dependable. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsDecent Gas Mileage, Roomy Interior, Strong Engine ConsFrequent Repairs, Poor Interior Quality

1999 Ford Taurus — Performance - Was pretty much average. The V6 pulled strong and got decent gas mileage. Build Quality - One of the reasons the Big Three are in so much trouble today was because of poor build qualtiy and the Taurus was no exception. Appearance - Could be better styled in my opinion but O.K overall Cost of Ownership - As mentioned above.....could have been a lot better. Primary Use: Family transportation

Prospowerful Consugly and poor mpg
35
The Unexpected Power House — If you have the 24v engine, the performance is amazing. It produces 200hp which I had never expected from a 4 door sedan. It has a few issues with the power locks and windows that is annoying. Also the body is down right ugly but it is at least aerodynamic. The trany is has a lot of drag because it does not cost well at all. Its mileage is lower than expected when my dad's impala which has a larger engine and gets 30 mpg and this car only gets low 20's. I believed that is caused by the trany and not the engine. over all it is not a bad car and again, it is a lot of power. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsReliable, good on gas, great ride ConsNot for infrequent drivers

Overall A Great, Reliable Car! I Recommend It For Those Who Need A Car For School/work/family. — This car is very comfortable to drive. She is smooth, runs smoothly, and is reliable. The thing I don't like is sometimes if you disconnect the battery then it forgets and relearns and it'll lurch badly when going from lowest gear to next up. But it corrects easily after awhile. I also don't drive it enough so I kinda lose battery power every 2 - 3 months. (She has a new alternator). She looks nice, and the curved look is areodynamic. She's also really good on gas too! The brakes do squeel when stepped on but the mechanic said they'll do that but nothing's wrong with the brakes. All in all, even with the little things aside, I still love my car! And the stock radio with bass boost really has great quality sound! Primary Use: Family transportation

ProsReliability / Performance ConsThere is no reason to avoid this car

Everyone Should By A Taurus And Then Ford Would Go Bancrupt Too! — My Taurus rocks. It currently has 452,000 km's and the engine and body are still humming down the road. Appart from some rust that has started around the wheel wells, the only thing people see when I pass is a blue blur. Primary Use: Commuting to work

ProsThe horse power. ConsNothing

. — It's a pretty good car considering I bought it used. It is tough and reliable. Have only had minor problems. But, it was to be expected from an older vehicle. I would only get rid of it if I could buy a new one. Primary Use: Family transportation

Proscomfortable Consmundane at best

Mundane — It looks like a jellybean but is more comfortable and socially acceptable than any other of my fleet of oddball modes of transport, half of which aren't even choices on this site. the reliability is awesome but it's just not Me

ProsGood in the snow, had a lot of room ConsPlagued with problems
55
99 Ford Taurus — 3.0L V6. Performance overall was not bad. It could move and was good in the snow. It needed a whole slew of repairs. The one head gasket went and it was in the shop for a month (although I feel the mechanic was also a dunce). Developed a power steering after about three years of owning it (bought in 05) and was never able to get it fixed correctly. The air conditioning and especially heat worked when they wanted to. Heat took nearly 20 minutes to get warm. Had the core drained and repaired numerous times to no avail. With all the problems it gave me, I put more money into repairs then I initially paid for it. Gas mileage was around 20 city and 26 highway. It wasn't that great of a car. I only got it because I needed a car and it seemed in relatively decent shape but needed almost $1000 in repairs to get it to pass inspection. |
