Great For Working And Hauling — Have never had any major issues with them usually get a different one when approaching 180,000 miles, or I see one that just wows me. I have owned other vehicles as well but my Explorers have always outlasted them of course that could be the other drivers but I enjoy owning my Explorers and have had the XLT`s, and theEddie Bauer Editions

Love It! — I've had this V6 Explorer for 5 years, love it to bits. Would have kept it till the day it died if it only had more towing power for a horse trailer. I will miss it sorely, that's for sure.

Pros

This car has lasted me a VERY VERY long time but it just needs too much work and I'm ready for something new. I have never had a new car. This was my first vehicle so it is time for it to go

Cons

My truck is HORRIBLE on gas. I am still in the ice age of gas guzzlers. Ionly get 16mi/gal. I know right...absolutely horrible. As soon as I press on the gas the needle gas starts to go down. I was used to it years ago but I've driven a few rental cars and realized just how much I could save by buying a new vehicle better on gas. Also what sucks about my car is that when one thing fails that one faulty part takes down many other parts with it. This Ford is not forgiving at all when it comes to maintenance. If I don't get something fixed IMMEDIATELY its a wrap. By the time I can afford to get to it, a million other things have gone wrong. I guess this is the case with many other cars but there are cars like Toyota or Huyandai that are more forgiving

My First Car But It's Time To Move On — I loved my truck but I'm over it. I'm ready to save on gas and a car with no issues. This car is finished. I will stay with Ford possible by purchasing a Ford Fusion but this is no more. I would recommend this car to a high school or College student.

The Eddie Bauer package came from the factor with a built in 8 inch sub w/ amp and a six disk changer.

Cons

Typical Ford rust starting.  Rear end sag had to be addressed.

Just Really Like The Style. — They are really easy to work on. Why does anyone like their vehicle? Personal preference. Sharp color, leather interior, power sunroof. Decent size cargo area. I like that you can either open just the back glass or the entire hatch.

My Second Explorer — I didn't know how to take care of a car the first time I purchased a vehicle. Needless to say I kept it for a few years and it had to go. My Second Explorer, I managed to keep the fluids in check and changed and the only thing thats happened is normal wear and tare. I've had her for 9 going on 10 years. And she is 15 years old. A keeper until she falls asleep and then I may have to bring her back!

The Smoke Still Lingers 10 Years Later — Every Explorer is different. Mine in particular is a love-hate relationship. It's 10 years old so it certainly needs/has had its share of repairs. Aside from that however, I love everything about it. The '02 Explorer I had before this one is a little quicker, but it can still giddyup when it needs to. I've added a K&N filter and flowmaster 40 w/ 2.5'' pipes to give the 4.0L some breathing room, as well as an Almani 800W 4 channel amp, Kenwood headunit, and 4 Alpine 5x7's at 250W a piece to enhance my own experience.

My Exploder — I love my explorer. It'll take me anywhere i want to go I just put some brand new 31x10.50 BFG All Terrain TA's on it. I have 196 thousand miles on it and it still runs great. It's not fast by any means but it has enough torque to haul my boat or my trailer. i have had to do some work on it. but power steering pumps and ball joints will always always go out any car. the only thing i don't like about it, is the gas mileage. I drove all interstate on one tank of gas and i averaged 14 miles a gallon with the cruise set at 65. and it doesn't have the 5.0 or the 4.6L v8's. i have the 4.0L Over Head Valve V6 . Overall I love the truck

Cons

Nothing its a FORD! I could use a V8

Excellent Performance And Quality — Very good brakes, pretty good acceleration, looks really good because I have HID headlights and window tint, nothing has broken because it's a FORD,about 15mpg (I have a lead foot) really fun to drive, best in class easily, I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for fun.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Cons

1999 Ford Explorer — Its a step up from my last car but i liked that one better. it was unique the one is more run of the mill. I wish it was a standard but thats my sacrifice for more refinement. The gas mileage could be better but it is a four wheel drive suv (18mpg). No major repairs while i've had it. The power and acceleration is better that i had at first expected but i wish it could burnout. the automatic 4 wheel drive kicks on at the first sign of slippage. Just started have interior rattles but then again it is almost 10 years old. Not as fun to drive as my 5 speed ranger but it can be fun.

One Of The Best Fords Out There — Shifting could be better, but for a V6 with a five speed auto, it has a good amout of power! I love how much room there is inside. I love how well it handles in winter weather. Styling is phenomenal! it a such a sporty looking SUV, one of the best looking out there! Everyone always complains about the gas mileage, but if you dont drive it hard, its easy to get 24 mpg!
