ProsSolid and safe cab. Rides smoothly, If driven right can get up to 20 mpg Consexpensive to fill up, but low cost to buy now.

Excelent Suv — Great vehicle. learned to drive on it and compare all other cars to it. Handling is sturdy, needs to take sharp turns slower but that is expected. Easy to do small maintainence but costs a fourtune to take to a shop. Can hit a buck at 50+ mph and only break a headlamp cover.

Amazing Vehicle — best car ever... never lets me down and its stylish. Performs well in all conditions: rain, snow, mud. Is not very expensive, and gets decent gas mileage. Pretty Nifty Car — It handles pretty well. The breaks are pretty good but the acceleration pedal sticks a little bit so it is sort of jumpy at times. Interior is a little dirty in the back floorboard and the center console top is slightly ripping ever so surely. It gets pretty good gas mileage for how old it is and the fact that it is an SUV. Overall its a pretty fun car to drive. | ||

One Of The Best Fords Out There — Shifting could be better, but for a V6 with a five speed auto, it has a good amout of power! I love how much room there is inside. I love how well it handles in winter weather. Styling is phenomenal! it a such a sporty looking SUV, one of the best looking out there! Everyone always complains about the gas mileage, but if you dont drive it hard, its easy to get 24 mpg! | ||

Great Suv — Great SUV. Lots of room. Wished I still had it. Tows well. Minimal maintenance even though it was used. Little high on the gas mileage but fun and easy to drive. Nice appearance. Great in all types of weather. Definitely work the money. I would buy another one in a flash. | ||

1999 Ford Explorer — Its a step up from my last car but i liked that one better. it was unique the one is more run of the mill. I wish it was a standard but thats my sacrifice for more refinement. The gas mileage could be better but it is a four wheel drive suv (18mpg). No major repairs while i've had it. The power and acceleration is better that i had at first expected but i wish it could burnout. the automatic 4 wheel drive kicks on at the first sign of slippage. Just started have interior rattles but then again it is almost 10 years old. Not as fun to drive as my 5 speed ranger but it can be fun. | ||

Best And Strongest Car I Know Of — Its a strong truck that we can get in and drive problem free. we have taken it across the country on extreme last minute things and it will go no problem. it has plenty of power and the handling is amazing. the body is in great shape and it gets 20mpg highway. we filled it up with cement when working on our house and it drove through cities and highway like there was nothing in it. over all i could not be more pleased in a car. | ||

ProsCould haul a lot. ConsEngine had problems after only 116,000 miles. I know people with Hondas with over 200,000 miles that can't kill them...

Functional And Took A Beating — Did OK but ran into a value issue at 116,000 miles which is pretty bad. My options were replacing both heads for $1,600 + of Marvel Mystery Oil. I choose the latter which got the engine to last another 15,000 miles, but the 'Check engine light is back on and inspection is due... I need a new car and am unlikely to get another Ford after this experience. It's too bad, aside from the engine problems it was a good truck | ||

1999 Explorer V8 — Performance: Average acceleration, braking and handling. Build Quality: No major repairs @ 175,000. Sunroof leaks some. Rear hatch rattles over large bumps. Appearance: Good. Clean and simple inside and out. Cost of Ownership: Gas mileage not great, 16-17mpg average. Maintenance cost are not bad. Fun Factor: Really?? Its fun in the snow, lol. Primary Use: Family transportation | ||
