ProsBody Style, 350 V8 Motor, very unique looking model. ConsFuel Pump

1998 Two Door Lt Tahoe — Performance: Acceleration is very touchy once work has been applied to the motor. I would compare to the acceleration of a Wrangler...a lot of torque and balls. Especially for the size truck I have. Brakes: Very good for such a big SUV. Upgraded the front rotors and brake pads to slotted and drilled rotors and Semi-compound brake pads. Handling, well it's an SUV so you can do over 40 on very very tight turns but it can handle 40 on most turns. It keeps it's ground. Build Quality- Chevrolet, it speaks for it's self. There built to last and the motor is going strong. No rust on any body panels, the frame is a little brown and some rust but some good sanding will fix it. No squeaks or rattles. Appearance: Big, Black, Gorgeous, the Soccer Mom SUV compacted into the ultimate SUV for fun and show. Exterior and Interior is perfect. Usually after 60,000 miles the captain's chairs wear out but easy fix and very comfortable. Exterior has some dents from rocks and the debris on the good ole' Northeastern roads of the U.S. Cost of Ownership- The price of my truck when I bought it at 78,000 miles was a STEAL. I would almost anything for this particualr model becuase it was produced for four years and they will probably never be produced again. Gas mileage ranges from 14-22 with work to the motor and a little help from a superchip. Maintenance...drive well and take care of it and you wont have any problems. Fun Factor- The best car I have ever driven.

Big Black 'hoe. — Most capable and dependable vehicle I have ever owned. Snow, mud, curbs, urban landscaping, etc. are no problem for the beast. Now the the miles are adding up its getting rough around the edges, but oh well. Still runs strong.

ProsGreat acceleration and handling, great handling and traction in snow also. Consburns oil, shakes at stops, makes wierd noises, rpms jump up and down

98 Tahoe — this SUV is in really good shape visually but internally the engine burns oil really bad and you can't see it out of the tail pipe. It costed $9500 at Semo Motors. It is very fun to do 0 to 60 in this car. It shakes when it is stopped and the rpms go up and down. Other than that she is a pretty good SUV

Ghost Rider — I use this vehicle for just about everything, from hauling vehicles to hauling anything in between. 4 wheel drive is not a bad thing either. With good tires and a steady ride can got anywhere I want!!! Fun ride to drive. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

ProsThe car has been a workhorse. ConsTurning around corners, you must take wide angles.

Work Horse. — The one thing that I dislike about this car is its original paint job. The paint cracks and looks bad for its appeal. Next, It would be nice if this car got better gas mileage but that would be difficult to ask for a workhorse car with a drop of gas, so maybe I'm asking for too much. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

1998 Chevy Tahoe — I enjoy my Tahoe. It may not have very good gas mileage, but for being 12 years old, it still gets the gas mileage that it was reported to get brand new. It's got plenty of room, and seats 5 comfortably. In my opinion it is the last of the TRUE SUV's... it doesn't have a lift gate on the back like the newer SUV's do, and I don't have doors on the back of my truck, it has a tailgate, like a truck should. Primary Use: Commuting to work

Cool Truck With Plenty Of Power — Even at 10 years old, the styling is still contemporary. Runs great even with the Whipplecharger with BAD computer intact, should have gone with a MagnaCharger. I just put $5K into to keep it running instead of buying a new GM. Hoping to get another 100K miles out of it. Primary Use: Commuting to work

I Got A Good Deal Otherwise It Would Be A Ford. — Not a bad family car has been reliable. Has a nice appearance inside and out. Has some rattles and pops but again it is 11 years old. Not the best on gas mileage but has some power. I am a Ford man but have been somewhat impressed with Tahoe. Primary Use: Family transportation |
