Drivers who haven't had problems with the 1997 626 DX love the car, saying it is inexpensive to own and operate, has comfortable seats, and looks good. However, those who have had problems have had lots of them, particularly with the transmission.

Drivers seem to either love or hate the 1997 626 LX. Fans of the car usually own a manual, and say they like it for its reliability, comfort, and fuel economy. Those who do not like the car usually onw the automatic and have had never-ending problems with the transmission and with the check engine light coming on for no reason.

Drivers of the 1997 Mazda 626 ES are in two camps. The ES enthusiasts love the car because it is zippy, comfortable, and fun to drive while remaining inexpensive to own and operate. Those who dislike the car mostly own automatics and have numerous problems with the transmission, sometimes requiring two or three replacements.

The 1997 Mazda 626 ES is the high-end model of the sedan. It comes standard with just about everything, including air conditioning and a sunroof. The V6 engine has 2.5 liters and 164 horsepower. Fuel economy is about 20/26.
The 1997 Mazda 626 ES does have some loyal fans, most of whom have a manual. They like the car because it is fun and comfortable to drive, has a roomy interior, and gets good gas mileage. However, many have had problems, especially those who bought an automatic. Some claim to have replaced the transmission several times, and there are also complaints of peeling paint and other smaller problems.
