Cons

1997 Chevy Cavalier — i loved this car. it was the 4 cylinder automatic Rally Sport edition. The car was bright white with the black cloth seats. This car had pretty good acceleration, good braking and great handling. I could drive it through any type of weather and never worry about being safe. The car was easy to fix if anything went wrong. I replaced the hood, bumper and front right fender in my garage in a total of 3 hours. They were dented up from the previous owner and i junk yarded some "new" parts that bolted on without a problem. The interior was comfortable and very spacious. I'm 6'3" and i fit fine without every hitting my head or anything. The car got 22 mpg in the city which was great when the price of gas was up to $4. the car was very easy to maintain and was cheap to fix. to replace all the brakes, calipers, rotors etc, and tires it cost a total of 1200. not bad when you think about all the work it took. the only bad thing i have to say is that it could have had a little more power. Free way entrances weren't fun but once on the road it was a blast.

Pros

Unreal handling, excellent response and braking through weight and suspension design, excellent power for a economy car, and beautiful mileage.

Cons

Plenty of power for the average person, not quite enough to make it a perfect starter with the street scene.

Z24 Secrets — This is the second cavalier I've owned, its a great buy. The Z24 trim model like mine has plenty of acceleration for in-town driving and more than enough to hit the highway comfortably. Its factory Macpherson struts glue it to the road and maintain excellent ride quality with its stock tires. Due to its low weight braking performance is stellar. Its relatively straight forward interior and exterior design makes the car also cheap to maintain while keeping some class in it. Forward aerodynamics are well designed and with the windows and sunroof open there is very little cabin turbulence. This little car begs to be tossed around the streets and reacts quickly and efficiently in both traffic and highway situations. Its definitely not the American the powerhouse that fuels motorhead dreams, however, there are very few cars that at stock performance can superglue themselves to the road at such a perfect near neutral handling characteristics for near its own price. And if your boys laugh about your little economy/sport coupe, fill your tank and let them know your getting 35-38 mpg on the highway and 28-32 in town.

Pros

Good car for the cost. I'd change the timing chain setup right after buying to make the car last longer.

Cons

Timing chain jumping without warning.

Decent Vehicle For The Price — it was a great car until the timing chain jumped and blew the motor. it handled well and had decent fuel economy. driving in snow was a breeze. I had a 1300 system in it and ran it on the battery for 3 hours. didnt even phase the battery.

Get It As A Cheap A To B Car, Nothing Else — It was a 4 cylinder so it got fairly decent gas mileage, but it still wasn't much to gloat about. It also got up and moved decently, still nothing very special. These things don't last very long though, so be wary when you buy one.

The Car Is An Ok Car — overall I would say that if you want a dependable car a chevy cavalier is one to have I had the car for 2 years, it had 223,000 + miles on it when I bought it, I did not put a drop of money into it until I replaced the motor in it at 241,069 miles on it.

97 Cavalier Z24 With 2.3l Top End — Overall a good car. Handled the snow very well. I've never been beat off the line with it. Never raced any all-wheel drive cars though! Lol. I had a blast the whole 5 or so years I had it. Sold it to my brother. Too many kids to sink money in for having fun.

I Like It. — It handles great in the snow! I can't wait for summer when I can take the top down and enjoy the convertibleness! I bought it used so it's not in perfect condition, but so far it's a fun little car.
