ProsReliable transportation, few mechanical problems, great gas mileage for a truck ConsWon't die, heater is poor, no air conditioning - none installed, body rusting out, weak engine.

1992 Ford Ranger That Won't Die — I have owned this truck for ten years now. It has had very few serious problems. About once a year it is in the shop typically due to some overdue maintenance item - last time was brakes + rotors. The body is rusting out, the heater doesn't work well, and it generally has the feel of an old truck just like it should as that is what it is. I don't anticipate putting any more money into it. When it needs something else, I will go get something else. It has served its purpose. Gas mileage is great - 20+ average. At 120,000 miles it began using some oil and developed a small leak in the power steering. Truck now has 152,000 miles with the same problems. |

It Is A Quick Little Work Truck — great acceleration from a stop light, turns on a dime stopping is great, solid motor, solid frame, great for towing, interior is good exterior some minor repiars style is great it is fun as heck cause it is a 5 speed after all. great gas mileage Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsH.O. V6, 5-speed, two-wheel drive. Fun combination. ConsIt's still only 165hp from the factory...

Needs More Power!! — Holds together nicely when it's not rusting apart. Overall a great truck. I'm a chevy guy, but I can really get along with this Ford product. It's fun, but not dangerously fun. It's good on gas, and you can pull anything you put on the hitch thanks to the 5-speed transmission. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

You Can Set My Truck On Fire, Roll It Down A Hill, I Still Wouldn't Trade It For A Coupe Deville — I love this truck and will never sell it, so to all you naysayers out there the truck will live on until it burns in the firery furnace of hades underworld, after morpheus has taken me on my last forever ending sleep, and my loved ones bury me in the truck Primary Use: Commuting to work |

If U Get An Opportunity And Are Lookin For A Nice, Cheap Ride, Buy It! — performance: squirly cuz of the short wheel base, not much power due to 4 cylinder, hate the braking. fun truck to drive though Build quality: its a ford, enough said Appearance: its a classic Cost: dec mpg, not a whole lot of maintence except addin oil Fun factor: rangers ROCK!! super fun to drive!!! except when u get stuck. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Hard Working Truck — Its a good truck to get the job done. It has bad brakes and suspension right now. It has rust on the body. The windshield is cracked. I use it right now for getting hay and horse feed. Its hard to use it to go shopping in cause of the baby seat. No one else can fit in. Over 400,000 miles. Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.) |

ProsAverage Vehicle ConsHigh Maintenance, Repairs Needed, Low Performance

'92 Ford Ranger — The acceleration on this truck is horrid, as well as the braking to it, although the handling is very nice (given the low speed this retains, it's no surprise). This truck has needed a transmission fix, among several other problems, yet has held up after all this time and all that work. It's definitely a trooper. The interior is basic for a truck, and the exterior is unappealing. The gas mileage is average, and maintenance required is high. It is, on some occasions a nuisance to drive, but I find it fun at times. This vehicle also has intrinsic value to me, in that my father owned and drove it everyday to work for many years. I would recommend this as a starter vehicle, but nothing more at this point in time with better trucks on the market. |
