Pros

Good gas mileage, pretty comfortable leather seats

Cons

Put a motor in a week after buying, not much room under hood to work on it.

Like The Style And Feel Of The Old Square Body 5 Speeds, Not Much Power In The Little V6. — Not much room when changing motor, decently cheap parts and a good aftermarket selection. Gets good gas mileage and cant beat it for the prices you can usually get them for in a mid size truck around here. Id recommend it as a beginner truck or a truck someone was wanting to mod with a different engine, light weight and could support a v8 motor for a lot of fun with the time and effort.

A Junk, Beater Truck, That Can Be Had Cheap. And Maintained For Nearly Nothing. Simple To Work On — Writing this review years later. It was a 91 Short Bed, Reg Cab, S-10. 5-Spd Manual, with Manual Shift Transfercase. TBI 4.3 V6 with what i thought was a T5 trans. Got it super cheap at a junkyard, Used it as a Beater/Woods Truck for a year. It held up well. Stuffed a set of 31x10.5 Dunlop Radial Rover A/T's on it, and drove it. rust killed it off. Drivers door hinge rotted out bad. So the door was tacked and welded Closed. Then the heater core started dying. and soon after that it was electrical nightmares. Drove it to the local U pull it, and rid my hands of it. In the woods, it was GREAT. tho i prefer the Blazer over the S-10 Pickup in the woods, as theres a little more weight over the rear axle, even when only in 2wd. It had 3.08's and a G80 I believe. a cheap, easy to fix, and not too ugly pickup.

I Would Love To Restore It To New, Unmodified Original Condition. — I tle-body fuel injection systemdont like the drum rear brakes;but, it stops just fine. the suspention and steering geometry make this little beast handle exceptionally well;the combo of the 2.8 v6, 5speed trans and throttle-body fuel injection system makes it a fast, fun to drive machine. The entire package is like some kind of happy accident; GM really got it right on this little machine I have oiwned much nicer vehicles, but none that I have loved or respected more. This little thing just seems to have no limits.

Good — i like everything about the truck although it does have alot of miles on it, it still gets me from place to place, and no noises, no engine rebuilds, no trans rebuild, all original, it does hall a** when you stomp it down. IT IS NOT FOR SALE

Pros

4x4, winter / off-road driving, cargo capacity, engine power, underbody guard package.

Cons

Lack of power accessories, poor seat quality, rust-prone, poor acceleration in relation to engine size, short bed makes hauling long objects slightly difficult.

Great Utility Vehicle, Just Adequate As A Daily Driver. — When used as a winter driver or as a utility vehicle for hauling, hunting, or off-roading, this truck is great. I have found the 4.3L V6 coupled with the 4x4 nigh unstoppable in snow or mud. I've made it through drifts 3 feet deep, even while traveling uphill on tires with very little tread remaining. I have used my truck in one of my own moves and have helped many friends and family with moving duties, in which the hauling ability of the S10 has always proved invaluable. The extended cab is great for stowing tools, hunting gear, towstraps, ropes, chains, flashlights, and the like, and also features two small flip-down seats which are suitable only for children. However, the benefits of the extended cab come at the cost of a short bed, which cuts down on hauling capacity and makes hauling longer objects somewhat difficult if they cannot rest atop the tailgate or safely hang off of the back of the truck with the tailgate down. The all-steel body construction lends itself to significant rust issues if driven through the winters, which can result in some maintenance issues (rusted gas tank, brake lines, fuel lines). I've also found that the doors tend to sag over time due to their solid steel construction, which means completely closing the door requires one to pick up on the door while closing it. There is no factory hitch, which is a major drawback. I purchased my S10 with an after-market bumper-mounted hitch in place, which did not stand up to the weight of a medium sized trailer. The overall ride comfort is low, as handling is somewhat sloppy and there is pronounced body lean through curves. Fuel economy ranges from 16-20 mpg. Seats are of low quality and are not suited for extended drives. The lack of power accessories can make driving monotonous. An excellent utility vehicle or winter driver, the 4x4 S10 is not for families, for those with extended daily commutes, or for those who enjoy a comfort-laden driving experience.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros

I like that basically everything was really cheap on the truck and able to get easy. something broke pay 20 bucks and about an hour of your time

Cons

I really didn't like that it didn't have a lot of power, i got it up to 90 mph a couple times but it really didn't like it mainly cause it was red lining

Not A Bad Beater — wasn't a bad truck, its pretty good for a cheap beater, and fun to drive if your kinda reckless, but it doesn't have a lot of power. also very cheap to maintain. i wasn't a big fan of the boxy style but again not bad

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Like A Rock — Awsome little truck with an attitude. hasen't failed me yet, the guy i bought it from let it sit for 5 years and it started at the first turn of the key. only problem was with the body rust, but i fixed that. the interior is nice and easy to clean. i can go to the moto cross park and have the interior looking like new after a little vaccuming. handles great and the 5 speed gives you some nice acceleration. very cheap to own. paid 600 for it and only put about 700 in it (mostly after market parts though) and did i mention that its a blast to drive.

Miss This One... — The performing aspect of the truck is this simple...It's not made to go fast... Build quality is fair. Appearance is incredible for being a 91! Very fun to drive! It's a 5 speed so its like driving a big go cart!
