1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 Convertible Review
ProsPowerful car with a 5 speed and a convertible. ConsRust damage can ruin any car, but if not maintained these cars will rot apart.

Fun Car To Drive And Great Design. — Car had good acceleration for a 302 HO 5 speed. Braking was great and handling was good. The rust monster had gotten ahold of it though and the unibody was rotting apart so I had to get rid of it. The convertible was great when it was down, but with just over 100 thousand miles on it the automatic top motor was shot and made it difficult to get the top up and down. I love the styling of the mid 80s to early 90s Mustangs though convertible or not. Gas mileage was not too bad considering what it was, but as with most cars or trucks after 100k they start wanting more and more money to repair odds and ends. Well worth the money to buy one of these in my opinion. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Proslow cost of ownership, lots of performance parts Conshigh insurance rates and minimal traction in poor weather

Way Fun And Fast On The Cheap — Dark blue with draglite wheels....very quick, was quicker with the engine it originally had, but dropped a valve and toasted the engine had a 180mph speedo and I seen 165 with passengers and the air-conditioning on. It had a roarty exhaust tone. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsIt was absolutely immaculate. ConsNone, I just wish I still had it!

Totally Amazing Car — I wish i could give more than 5 stars on appearance, this car was absolutely gorgeous. 54k original miles. Paint and interior were absolutely flawless, I'd challenge someone to find a ding in this paint!! The car also ran fairly well for what it was, a heavy pig AOD GT Vert. It ran a best of 13.98 @ 98mph on the stock radials. Mods were: Ford Motorsport ceramic coated shorty headers, stainless off road h pipe, flowmaster catback, pulleys, cold air, 75mm Pro M mass air, 3.73 gears, hughes 2500 stall, performance automatic valvebody, and weld draglite front runners. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

Pros12.90s with bolt ons? Ive never seen it done again in person by a non stripped daily driver. ConsIts gone. Thats the only part. I wish id have spent money on the transmission, axles and a decent differential.

12 Sec Bolt On 1990 Gt — This was an awesome car! Daily driver, It had Stock Heads, Cam and Intake. With bolt ons only (ie. 3.73 gears, full exhaust, intake spacer, fuel pressure regulator, control arms, subframe connectors, pulleys etc...), it went 12.99 @ 105.05mph on M/T ET Streets. It also had very nice gray interior and very nice original black paint. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

ProsThe Power ConsIt needs a tune

1990 Mustang Lx 5.0 — Overall, the car is fun to drive, but it could benefit from a tune. For a 20 year old car, the interior is almost immaculate and the seats are quite comfortable, the original paint is still very bright. The engine bay is also detailed nicely. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsTop down in the sun, Mustang, 5.0, 'nuf said ConsIt's well used. It should have lived a better life.

1990 Mustang '7-up Car' — Performance: 20 yrs old, still does what it is supposed to do. Build Quality: Mine has seen better days. The poor thing was pretty neglected by some previous owner long ago, so it has rust issues. It does rattle quite a bit when you hit bumps. Appearance: Very pretty color, green and white is a nice looking combo. As old as it is it still gets alot of attention when I drive it. Cost of Ownership: It hasn't been too bad. If I really wanted to restore it, it would cost a fortune. It has had a few problems, broken brake line, bad tie rods, lost my smog pump. These were not costly repairs though. It drinks alot of gas but all of my cars do. I don't drive it alot anyway so gas is no big deal. Fun Factor: A+!! It is fun for certain. I feel like I'll always have to have a convertible after owning this car. I should probably sell the car, but so far can't bring myself to do it b/c it is fun to drive. My car is not for those who like refined cars. This thing is just nasty, but I actually like it that way. LOL Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsFun to drive , easy to modify. looks good. Consits an old car.

Upcoming Classic. — performance is ok.... just need to be modified. 225hp stock at the crank is not alot for todays standards. if you take care of them right and maintance them as recomended , they can last forever. but its a fun car to drive . the foxbodys are lightweight.... so i guess thats a better advantage compared to the newer style mustangs 1994-2004.. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

None — i love my car more than alot of things. it handles like a champ and is very quick to accelorate. with the acceloration comes bad gas mileage. over all i enjoy being behind the wheel of this beast on both straight and curvey roads.
