1984 Chevrolet El Camino Review
ProsI always loved the look of the El Camino. My 84 El Camino was a project car I bought for $500. It needed a lot of repair mostly because it sat for a long time. Once I got minor things fixed and drove it everyday it started to run fine. Has fair handling mostly needs new suspension on the older GM cars same with all stock parts on GM cars 25 years + and parts for it where cheap fast car if you know what your doing. Its not fuel economic in this day and age. Fun car to drive and I hated getting rid of it. ConsStock GM parts have to go if its 25 years and older but cheap parts and gets bad MPG

Fun Car To Drive If You Can Afford The Gas. Has Lots Of Power If You Know What Your Doing — Bad MPG but I loved driving it around. i made it really fast and handled okay. The Chevrolet El Camino is my favorite model by GM. This car can bring lots of fun and makes great for racing. A lot you can do to this car for a project. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

In Need Of A Comeback — An El Camino was somewhat of my dream car, and I was lucky enough to make one my first car. The way the car handles makes you feel like never driving anything else, but it leave some desired in acceleration & that gas tank burns away quickly. I'm planning something of an engine swap to make up for those shortcomings. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

Car Is Old But Sound — In all aspects of perfomance the car is sound I have had it to 115 mhr only running on the two barrel now the fours open like they should. I punched it the other day and left both rear tire marks for about 200 feet the motor has been replaced from the 305 to a 350 with the 350 turbo trans. Like all older cars it has needed parts A arms, water pump, feul pump, radiator, oter than that she runs like a champ. This car is very fun to drive for a person with a heavy foot she will kick it sifeways in a hurry the paint is purple with metalic flake driver seat is worn from so much geting in and out. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Fun Car To Own — its a great fast an powerful car that will easily throw you back into the seat. If you buy this car it would be a great idea to buy some stocks in your favorate brand of tire as well because you will burn through them quickly. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Elco — stock motors after 25 years obviously suck. as well with suspension and braking, but with new after market parts for just about everything you can make any car perform to its max potential. a true head turner any where you take el camino. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

It Would Be Cool If Mine Weren't Junk! — This is my El Crapmino! Duh du du Duh! 300 dollar it runs and stops car. It has a custom smashed in bed and many aftermarket rust hole! Brown on Brown with the mighty 305ci stock. Bad gas mileage, slower than dirt and ugly! But look at it and it starts |

El Camino, A Good Looking Neither-nor — Its not very useful either as a car (no back seat) or as a truck but it has unique looks and certain advantages over both car or truck. It has a very long bed (longer than most pick up trucks) so it is useful for light but long loads. It is ideal for transporting bikes, wood for weekend projects, etc. I swaped the stock 305 V8 for a high compresion 350 small block with headers, a hotter camshaft, an edelbrock manifold and a holley 4 barrel carb. Next on the to do list is the paint and the interior. I might change the torque converter later. |

1984 Gmc Caballero, Great Old Car. — This car is a great worker. It will run with a little persuasion, but the timming is off and when it dose run it sounds like a bunch of marbels in a paint shaker. However i am working on it. Right now it needs: a fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, crankcase breather, and a transmissoin tune up and filter. Utherwise its a great rare car. 1984 GMC Caballero |
