ProsReliability, plenty of storage, small ConsHandling on wet roads, uncomfortable seats

Kept Me On The Road For 15 Years, But Not Real Excited About It — This was a base model liftback. Had it for 15 years, and put 105,000 miles on it. Not a particularly memorable car. It was good enough at just about everything, really good at nothing. The handling was typical for a Japanese compact of the time, seat comfort was pretty lousy, storage space was very good. It was light in the back, which made going up a hill in wet weather a dicey proposition. One thing I liked, and missed, was the boxy shape of cars of that era: I knew exactly where the front and rear were, and could confidently parallel park it in very tight spaces. It was, overall, a reliable car. I compromised it late in its life by using aftermarket parts, but it still kept going. I finally got rid of it because I was in my forties and tired of driving an entry-level car. |

This Car Is About The Joy Of Driving — i love this car more than my sti and i''m gana buy one sooner or later might even go for an AE86 I REALLY LOVED THIS CAR it would be my daily driver with a few tweaks it doesn't get better than that car Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

ProsRear wheel drive, smooth ride, peppy but efficient ConsNot a fast car by any means, handles poorly on poor roads.

Great Car For Around Town Driving, Fun To Drive, Looks Great! — Great little car. Peppy even with an automatic and the rear wheel drive is great fun! Kind of sucks to drive on the freeway as it'll do about 80 with your foot in the floor. However, if the speed limit is in the 65 or less range unlike here, this car is perfect. It rides smooth as glass clear up to 70, just a bit noisy. Primary Use: Commuting to work |

It's Good For Tinkering — I love the shape and just the fact that it's ancient!! It's hard to drive and that's what makes it fun... it still needs a bit of work, there's a few things that need to be fixed before I get it on the road, but there are a few mechanics out there that can help *cgh* Primary Use: Commuting to work |

Drifting — build quality - body very hard appearance - interior bad exterior looks like an old skool fun factor - car for beginner drifter and a beginner driver performance - it has a good accelaration but bad top speed and normally people change to it other engine. Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) |

Prosrear drive, good response, great transmission, solid as a rock. Conslack of power, non hydraulic steering wheel, heavy, average looks.

My Old Toyota Corolla 1.3 — It was not very powerful as a car, it had an 1.3 liter engine, but it had a 4 gear transmission with lots of response. The main advantage was that it was rear drive so as a teenager I used to drive sideways. My God it was good fun. I finally wrecked it a few years ago in a car accident that nearly cost me my legs. |

1980 Toyota Corolla SR5 Review
ProsThe TE72 used a 1800cc pushrod hemi crossflow 3T-C engine, 5-spd celica box and recirculating ball steering. The recommended conversion for this car is to fit rear disk brakes, stabiliser bars, flares and wider tyres, koni shocks and a 3T-GTE twin cam engine. Stock gearbox is great. Standard 3T honed for higher compression is a good comprimise. ConsFactory vehicle has lemon status. Single formed rear shell means a hit in rear can write it off. Thin body is light but subject to rust around base of pillars. Liftback adds considerable weight to the vehicle.
