Pros

Styling ahead of it's time.  Mid engined Ford 351 Cleveland provided nice power through the ZF Transaxle.

Cons

Tire technology in 1972 could be summed up as "round and black" Tire manufactures were more in to making tires for muscle cars to go in a straight line not cars that could push the limits in cornering. Some Panteras were plagued with overheating issues and rust.  I had the cooling upgrades and did not have any rust issues at all.

My First Real Sports Car! — I loved everything about the Pantera. In fact of all the vehicles I have owned in my life it is one of just two that I wish I had never sold. I still to this day remember the VIN number and hope I can someday track it down again to see what has become of it. Perhaps I'll own another should the right (white Pre-L) come along. It's only weakness was the lack of tires that would allow it to really perform.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros

Timeless looks, sensual and sensational body.  Melodious growl.

Cons

Cramped for six footers

The Classic American/italian Hybrid — Stunning looks and sounds, and absolutely flat handling make this 40 year old classic a lot of fun to drive. Chunky gearbox and lack of power steering, along with cramped quarters are the drawbacks, but what a body, easily as attractive as anything coming out of Modena or Stuttgart today, testament to Tom Tjaarda's timeless design.

Just Look At It — The engineering is a bit wonky in places and the seating position is nothing short of sadistic, but this thing is drop dead gorgeous. Lovely V8 sound and torque, surprisingly good fuel economy (4th and 5th gears are overdrives), big trunk. But drive 100 miles in the stock seats and you will plead for death.

The Closest Thing To A Race Car On The Street. — Amazing. Rode on rails. The car I still walked away from backwards for two years.
