How do i Identify of a real GTO 64 or 65 since there is a 37 on firewall tag.
I'm actively pursuing the purchase of a 1965 GTO I'm look for what delineates a REAL GTO. I know that the cowl tag has to have a 42 vs at 37 (which is a LeMans) but it seems to me that 64-65 all seem to have 37 and the 42 doesn't seem to appear until 66 and later. How can I tell if a 64 or 65 is a "real" GTO? Is there something on the Bill of sale or on the car that will satisfy the identification. What are the qualifier(s) that will ID the car as a GTO?
