2008 Sorento wont start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Went to start car yesterday and brand new battery was dead (battery is approx 2 months old) , I then noticed a clicking sound coming from the engine compartment which I then traced to the TMS relay in the under hood fuse box. This noise eventually stopped and I hooked up a battery charger to charge battery, the running lights and all the dash lights came on without the key in the ignition switch and the engine not running, when I disconnect the charger all lights go dark. I then tried to jump start the car and when the key is inserted into the ignition all of the dash lights that usually come on wen starting the car start to flicker and flash but there is not a click or any other bit of activity from the starter. Any ideas as to what the problem could be ?

When the battery goes stone cold dead strange things happen to electronics. So first you need a good battery so recharge your as it should be good but have it load tested just in case, once you put the recharged battery back in the security system will be activated, it will flash the lights, honk the horn, disable the starter and the fuel pump, so read on how to turn it off in the owners manual as it is model specific. After you get that sorted out then you can start it up and it should run. Then you need to get it to your favorite shop so they can find out where the battery draw is at before it kills the battery again and you have to do this all over again. Or you might be better off just having it towed to your tech and have them sort it all out. This is a KIA and they are strange little cars with weird problems. After you get it fixed you might consider getting rid of it as problems are going to get more common and more expensive as it gets older.
