Soft, compliant suspension mated with direct, communicative steering make this an easy day in day out driver. 4 Cyl. engine is good with low end grunt but lacks power for truly aggressive driving. Clutch is easy, light, with long pedal travel and sometimes vague shifter. An economy car with luxury intentions, the interior suprises with excellent detail, build quality, and simplicity. Car is very quiet, smooth, and dependable, allowing for long highway trips that are neither arduous nor painful. Although day to day driving is truly easy in this car, sporty driving is not to be had with the GLS model. The balence is on commuting, not on sporting.
Pros:
Quiet, well planned interior. Stylish interior, exterior with excellent build quality. Simplicity, excellent gas mileage from the engine with adequate power. Manual transmission is a must.
Cons:
Interior is too small for large people in the back seat. Engine, suspension lack sporting ambitions.

I like it definitely not for all interior is nice. always stays warm heat is amazing. ac is cold.
Pros:
sound system, sunroof, big trunk for subs :) can fit up to 19 inch rims

The ride is fantastic, gear shifts are smooth, initial acceleration isn't too great but readily picks up from 2nd gear. Effortlessly speedy on overdrive and cruise. Interiors are not extravagant but suited for a comfortable 4 people ride.
Pros:
When you are inching to stop at a stop sign and feel you are clear, the 2nd shift just powers the vehicle zoooooooom....it's super amazing (you can feel the 2.0l 4-cyl working efficiently). It gives a mileage of ~26mpg.
Cons:
Dollar guzzler when it comes to maintenance, and the not so great initial acceleration...what can you expect with a 2.0 liter 4-cyl engine generating ~160hp.

this is the wife's car. i've always heard vw's are trouble, but this one has been great for us. fun to drive and high mpg.

The nicest part about the VW Jetta is its reliability. I've had to fix a few minor things in the course of our 5 year relationship, and most of those due to I uncerimoniously and rudely decided to get into an accident (whups) and destroyed the entire oil system. She's a beaut, tho, despite how hard I drive her she never says no and always treats me well. I love my car.
Pros:
MPG, handling, fit & finish, looks, driving comfort (I own a manual 5 speed), cargo capacity, reliability
Cons:
Upkeep is a bit on the expensive side because she is an import, after all...
