2000 Toyota Corolla Reviews, Pricing & Specs

Likes: Economy (40+ highway / 30+ city mpg), handling, minimal maintenance, low TCO, power/weight ratio, low turning radius, super-reliable, comfortable, decent moderate looks Dislikes: Bad weather handling, big people may suffer, limited cargo space, may feel light during high winds, non-luxury Overall, high build-quality. Fuel economy is a massive plus. I have driven Priuses - but believe me, if you are driving on highways, you would rather drive the Corolla than the Prius. I have driven this car on really long drives - upto 10-12 hours at one go (with only gas fill up in between) and nothing seems to bother the car. This car has been so reliable for me that I would hate losing this car to a newer (probably better) car even if I can afford the latter. I have had to spend little maintaining the car - changed a battery, AC fluid and belt once each - thats about it and then the oil changes every 5k miles. I feel that any new consumer who is looking for a car has a great choice in the biggest selling car in history. Jul 12, 2011

Got this car from dealer after it's been in a crash (they did very good job, not a trace outside), it had 141,000 miles. Right after that I drove it from Chicago to Connecticut and back without a single issue (though dealer recommended to change rear brakes, and front tires were bald - I took care of it later). I already have it for a year, no issues provided regular oil change. I drive about 20,000 per year; I tend to believe those who say you can put 400,000 miles on Corolla (if you drive that long:), unlike in American cars. Yes, it is a bit slow on acceleration, but then I leave everybody behind. Stylish look in teal color, put nice chrome looking wheel covers from Walmart, looks great.Aug 11, 2010

For a 9 yr old car it runs pretty damn good. fuel consumption is very ok for the age of the car considering its A/T. It's all stock inside and out except for the rims which i got from a corolla altis. ride and handling is ok. it only has 61000++ kms mileage on it. rides like new. maintenance wise parts are available and price is very ok. downside? leg room could use a little bit more tho the boot is very spacious. The 2000 Corolla is an okay car to own. The drive train is fit for the body, yet is not built for rapid acceleration. Drive is stiff and sporty, which is impressive for such a small sedan. Parallel parking is not an issue with the compact and easy to manuvre wheelbase. the spoiler option adds a sporty touch to a midget looking car, and provides a point of reference for reversing out of parking spaces. Both engines in mine have had slow oil leaks throughout ownership. Gas mileage is a good 30 mpg when stock transmission is installed. This car is however, a major upgrade from a new yaris sedan.Jun 21, 2009

It is what it is. A four cylinder family car. It has all of the options except for the ABS and leather. But it's not very classy for appearance. It's gas mileage is always around 30, and requires very little maintenance. T really don't have many complaints it does what it needs to and doesn't let me down it only has about 78,000 on it which for a Toyota is just getting broke in. It's only fun if you like cars with little horsepower and Lots of body roll. May 22, 2009

Toyota Corolla 1.6 SR VVT-i I've owned this since Jan'04. When I bought it, it was totally standard. Engine performance is good, assisted with Veriable Valve Timing and a 6 speed transmission (put it this way it surprises a lot of people off the lights!) The handling left a lot to be desired, so the suspension has been upgraded which has just transformed it. I love driving the car now, its very satisfying after a long days work too drive home in. A few body mods have also been done. 17'' Team Dynamics GTO alloy wheels, TTE side skirts and front spoiler complete the styling. This is the longest I've ever owned a car, I just can't bring myself to sell it. Maybe its because its as rare as rocking horse whats name, and I know I'll regret it one day. If I do then it'll be for something equally as rare or iconic.Jan 05, 2008
