This SUV was truly one of a kind.  This 4-door Explorer was built with
a manual 5-speed transmission instead of the standard automatic.
"Now wait!!" you might say... "There are other Explorers with manual
transmission."  You would be absolutely correct.  But there are very
few that are actually 4-door.  If you check, most manual transmission
Explorers are the 2-door Sport Editions.  Because it was a manual, I
could take that truck almost anywhere.  It was not 4WD,
unfortunately.  Though it's probably better for the truck's sake,
because had it been 4WD, it would have gone more places it shouldn't
than it already did.  The only reason I sold it (and even after selling it, I
almost went back on my word so I could keep this fun and rare
vehicle), was because I got such a great deal on my Mustang, and the
insurance for both would have broken the bank.  So I had to give it up.
The interior was in decent shape.  There were a few stains in the
carpet, and thanks to my Uncle using it as a work vehicle, has some
rips in the headliner.  Other than that the interior was in pretty good
condition.  There were power windows and locks with a keyless
entry/alarm system that I installed.  It also had an Alpine head unit
with Ipod cable run to the glove compartment.  It had a 12" Rockford
HE2 sub with Rockford Power 350 amp, but that came out when I sold
it.  I couldn't part with those relics!! The exterior of the truck was in
really good condition.  The paint was factory and still pretty good.
There were a couple small spots, probably from tree sap on the hood
and roof, but not highly noticeable.  There was a small dent on the
passenger side rear quarter panel, that could only really be seen if I
pointed it out.  I had to have a few things replaced while I owned it,
but were relatively minor seeing as how the truck is 13 years old.

Pros — 5-speed Man. Tranny, spacious, perfect family fun vehicle, towing
capability, good strong truck
Cons — uhm... the a/c didn't work for most of the time I owned it... but that was
my fault because I was too lazy to get it recharged... LOL!!

It needed a lot of work and cannot handle what an SUV should be able to handle.

Pros — It looks nice and has power everything.
Cons — Everything goes wrong one after another.

I've got 228,000 miles on my trusty ole 95 Explorer, kind of fits into the term Big Ugly
Indestructible Car Killer. Used it for many tasks it was not designed to do and it never
complained, it might have lost some random plastic trim but it never has left me stranded on
the road

Pros — reliable as the sunrise, roomy, comfortable road-tripper
Cons — not a fuel sipper, truck chassis makes commuter duty rough

Although the gas mileage is horrible, the braking and handling are exceptional for a big SUV, the 4WD is very useful in tight situations.  The special features are nice with the 4WD like mentioned before, sunroof is nice to have on sunny days, and the compass with the temperature gauge is nice to have as well.  If you are looking for something with good MPG, dont choose this, but it is a safe and reliable car to have.  My first explorer, although it was an older model had over 285k miles and still ran strong before i sold it.

Pros — Safe, reliable, somewhat good curb appeal.
Cons — Horrible gas mileage
