Dodge did not make many changes to the Durango in 2003, as it was preparing for a new generation in 2004. Notable changes this year include making 16-inch wheels and 4-wheel disc brakes standard on all trims.
Trims remained the same for the 2003 Durango. The Sport, SLT, SLT Plus, and SXT models all came standard with a 5-speed automatic transmission and a 4.7-liter, 235-hp, V8 engine, a tough, fuel-efficient engine and powertrain combo that could tow more than 7,000 pounds and still get off the line quickly. For even better acceleration and sport tuning, the R/T performance trim included a behemoth 5.9-liter, 245-hp V8 paired with a 4-speed automatic.
Drivers love the truck-like look of the 2003 Dodge Durango and that its handling and interior are more car-like and intuitive. The cargo capacity is the largest in its class. But along with the envious stares drivers say they receive, you will also make many new friends with your Durango, including Exxon, Mobil, Texaco, and Shell. With only 14/18 mpg (and most drivers say that's a generous figure), the Durango won't take you far on a 25-gallon tank.

We like the room, we like that it was cheap to buy one used, we love the spacious interior, we like the rear a/c controls, I like that I can easily change the spark plugs rather than pay $170 for a job that takes less than an hour for a novice. Changing brakes is a breeze as well.Apr 17, 2015

the dodge durango sle is in a class by its self, it roomy for the tall people in your family, great on gas mileage and easy on the wallet. This 2003 Dosge durange has not bad or blind spots, it is an all the round vehicle. Great family vehicle.Jun 24, 2014

Tough, rugged and long lasting. For a great price you can have a true 4X4 off road vehicle that drive like a Lincoln on the road. Mine never broke or left me stranded. I bought it new and will never sell it.Jun 11, 2014

This is a really nice SUV and is perfect for taking a few friends or family to the movies, park and is great for grocery shopping since it has good cargo space. It is a fun vehicle to drive and has a comfortable ride.Nov 21, 2013

Our family car is great but the car runs on to much gas and if you want a gas guzzler here is your car new parts/getting the car fixed is very expensive but other than that great car 4wd makes it easier to get out of ditches/potholesSep 08, 2013

there isnt a thing i dislike about this car its a born power house, ya its not the greatest in the world on gas but who cares when you have the fun of driving all that power!! it also has a nice aggressive look to it on the front and a nice wide stance with some very meaty looking tiresOct 08, 2010

Good truck. Decent gas mileage for an SUV. Lots of space. Easy to maintain, doesnt break down much. Easily accelerates and brakes. There are a few dings and dents, but runs well. It is a great vehicle to drive. Excellent.Aug 19, 2010

PERFECT i have had zero problems with this truck it hasnt let me down and i enjoy driving it. As with all cars once it ages a bit you get the usual lifetime problem and those can be avoided with the regular maintenance stuffJan 29, 2010

accelerarion is awesome but it's a bit of a gas hog. mpg currently is 16 but thats cause tires are bad and it needs a tune up otherwise i love it...... plus we have heated seats. white in color. not a bad vehicleOct 15, 2009

This has been my favorite vehicle over all. I love the way it handles, it has alot of get up and go. It's great for hauling around the kids and their stuff. The third seat works for any other people you want to take with you, although there could be a little more leg room with it. Ours is black with grey trim and I love that! It's been easy to maintain, still runs solid and is a blast to drive. When we're ready to upgrade, it will definitely be another Durango.Jul 07, 2009

Good power and comfortable family hauler. Exellant towing capacity but fuel milage is poor. With 75,000 KM's there has been very few reliability problems. Love the first generation body style compared with the second generations. An excellant choice for an SUV that is in between the monsterous full size ones and biger than the car based smaller units. Performance is great it has an awesome acceleration good braking and the handling is awesome. Its needed repairs but thats because its gotten in accidents. Outside is pretty good not too big not too small the new ones are huge though. It costs about 60-80 dollars to fill the tank it gets about 15-20 MPG on a good day. If you treat it right it won't need too much maitnence. I freaking love to drive this car! Yes if your willing to pay for the amount of gas it needs.Sep 07, 2008

This was the last year dodge made the durango on the dakota platform. the durango drives nice and handles better then i thot it would have. very nice truck especially with the Infiniti sound system. the engine is a very responsive V8 magnum putting out enough HP to lug around even my Dads skidsteer bobcat...not the small ones wer talkin the second biggest one on the market. the 4 wheel drive is nice no doubt and in the winter its a handy option to have. it seats a family nice with more room to spare in the rear of the truck.
