For more serious off-roaders, the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder SE Off-Road is aimed at you.  Though only a rear-wheel drive, it does feature the new 4.0-liter, 270-hp DOHC V6 and new 5-speed automatic and rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and all-season tires.  The 2005 Pathfinder SE Off-Road is equipped with a stiffer suspension, larger brakes, and performance shocks.  The rear-wheel drive SUV seats seven finally, in three rows of seats that fold down for 79 cubic feet of cargo space.  Along with ABS brakes and dual front airbags (side impact extra), the 2005 Pathfinder SE Off-Road adds skid plates.

Some nice luxuries include a power driver's seat with power-adjustable pedals, a CD player, leather trim, automatic climate control, cruise control, a security system, a trip computer, and intermittent front and rear wipers.  An auto-dimming rearview mirror and foglights enhance safety on the 2005 Pathfinder SE Off-Road.  A roof rack and trailer hitch are also standard.  Extras include heated leather seats, automatic headlights, wheel-mounted audio controls for the CD changer/MP3 player, a garage opener, sunroof, satellite radio, and a power passenger seat.  The Pathfinder added six inches to its length this year, and drivers appreciate the extra room, though the third row is cramped.  Interior materials look cheap and get dinged easily, but the increased horsepower and exterior style make up for it.  Gas mileage is a disappointing 16/23.
