2009 Cadillac DTS V8

The 2009 DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) V8 remains the last front-wheel-drive full-size luxury sedan in Cadillac's stable. Due to its drivetrain configuration and soft-tuned suspension, many owners find the DTS V8's ride overly floaty, with noticeable body roll in most corners, although handling remains fairly good overall. Power comes in the form of a 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine, which produces 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, which many reviewers consider one of the sedan's weak spots, channels power and torque to the front wheels. The DTS V8 posts fuel economy numbers of 15/23 mpg. The automaker recommends premium-grade gasoline for the Northstar V8.

Inside, the '09 DTS V8 offers a comfortable, luxury-oriented, five-passenger cabin sure to please discriminating occupants. Nuance leather seating surfaces, 8-way power-adjustable front bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and Bluetooth are among the cabin's standard features. Standard OnStar offers such services as turn-by-turn navigation, remote door unlock, and roadside assistance, while the 8-speaker audio system includes a CD player, XM satellite radio, automatic volume control, and an MP3 input jack. Owners can add heated and cooled seats with memory, a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, and a DVD-based navigation system as options. Outside, HID headlights, LED taillights, and heated mirrors are among the standard features. All-speed traction control, antilock brakes with brake assist, and the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system help ensure passenger safety. The '09 DTS V8 rides on 17-inch wheels with all-season tires.
