A two-door version of the sedan, the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Coupe offers a sportier, fastback-like profile while providing the same standard features as the sedan. Under the hood sits a 2.4-liter inline-four engine that gets 150 hp and 155 ft-lbs of torque, with fuel economy averaging 23/30 mpg. It is paired with a 5-speed manual, though a 4-speed automatic is available. The 2009 Cobalt LS Coupe still seats four, though rear headroom is somewhat reduced. The rear seats split-fold 60/40, and the trunk holds a surprising 13.9 cubic feet of cargo.
To earn its good frontal impact ratings, the 2009 Cobalt LS Coupe comes with dual-stage dual front-side airbags with passenger deactivation sensors. Side curtain bags for the rear seats are not available. A rear stabilizer bar, 15-inch wheels with Touring tires, front disc and rear drum brakes, OnStar, automatic halogen headlights, foglights, and a tire monitor are also standard. Paying extra gets you 4-wheel ABS brakes, traction control, a rear spoiler, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Interior equipment includes a CD/MP3 player with input jack and satellite radio, power locks, remote entry, Bluetooth, and a trip computer. Intermittent wipers, tilt steering, a tachometer and temperature display, four cupholders, two power outlets, and a security system complete the standard package.
