2008 GMC Canyon SLT Ext Cab 4WD Summary
The 2008 GMC Canyon SLT Extended Cab 4WD adds a part-time 4WD system with a standard locking rear differential. With high and low-range gearing, the mid-sized pickup can be taken off-road for maximum versatility. A heavy-duty Z85 front independent and solid live axle rear suspension provides a sturdy feel, but can be replaced with a specific Z71 off-road suspension. The 4WD comes only with 15-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires. A 3.7-liter, 242-hp DOHC I5 and 4-speed automatic provide the power, 242 ft-lbs of torque, and a 5500-pound towing capacity.
Added safety and security comes in the form of 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, dual front airbags, side impact door beams, OnStar, and a tire monitor. Side curtain airbags for both rows are optional. The 2008 Canyon SLT Extended 4WD upgrades to an auto-dimming rearview mirror, along with automatic headlights, foglights, and halogen lamps. The Extended models add a second row of small seats and rear doors, albeit ones smaller than regular size. The 6-foot pickup bed features two-tier storage, high side walls, tie-downs, and tow hooks. The tailgate folds and locks in two positions.
An 8-way power driver's seat and 6-way power passenger seat add extra comfort for pickup passengers in the 2008 Canyon SLT Extended 4WD. Added luxury in the SLT is provided by heated leather seats. Other standard features include cruise control, remote entry, a full power setup (locks, windows, mirrors), a trip computer, intermittent wipers, front and rear cupholders, front power outlets, a leather steering wheel, chrome accents, and a temperature display and compass. A CD/MP3 player with radio data can be replaced with a 6-CD changer or supplemented with optional satellite radio. Other options include a sunroof. On the outside, chrome bumpers add some flashy style, and body-side moldings and larger wheel flares can be added.
