[Edit] Since the Base is so well equipped, you get only a few more safety and convenience features with the 2008 Nissan Quest S. This front-wheel-drive minivan adds standard rear parking sensors, which help with backing up. Along with 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, 16-inch wheels with all-season tires, a tire monitor, and dual front and curtain airbags for all rows, these add up to five stars in crash tests for the 2008 Quest S. Side impact airbags for the front seat are newly standard this year. An auto-dimming rearview mirror is optional. The engine remains a 3.5-liter, 235-hp DOHC V6, coupled with a 5-speed automatic. Acceleration can be sluggish for this 5,800-pound minivan, but with the optional towing package, it can haul nearly 3,500 pounds.
The 2008 Quest S comes standard with only front seats. Second-row captain's chairs and a third-row bench are optional. Upgrading to the S gets you dual sliding doors, one manual and one power-operated. The second row folds, while the third row folds flat into the floor with new auto-fold headrests. Cargo capacity starts at 32 cubic feet and expands to 146. An organizer and cover cost extra, but tie-downs are included. So is a standard roof rack, which can be supplemented with optional cross bars.
Power windows, locks, and mirrors, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, remote entry, a trip computer, security system, tachometer, front and rear climate control, and tilt steering are standard. The 2008 Quest S improves the sound system to an 8-speaker 6-CD player with MP3 input. Other conveniences include intermittent front wipers and a rear wiper, three rows of cupholders and power outlets, and seatback hooks. More options for the S include an 8-way power driver's seat. This joins other options, such as a DVD player, compass, garage opener, and running boards.
