[Edit] As the base model in this minivan lineup, the 2008 Nissan Quest Base actually comes well-equipped. A sliding manual door opens onto three rows of seats, with front and second row captain's chairs and a third row bench (the second and third row are optional on the Base and cost extra). Total capacity is seven. Full power features, remote entry, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls for the CD/MP3 player, front and rear climate control, a security system, and a trip computer and tachometer are all standard on the front-wheel-drive Base. Intermittent front wipers and a rear wiper are included, and there are power outlets located in the front and second row and in the cargo area.
The cargo area holds 32 cubic feet with all rows up. The third row folds flat into the floor and the second row folds nearly flat, for a total of 146 cubic feet of storage. A roof rack is standard for more storage, and a cargo organizer and cover can be added. Grocery hooks on seatbacks, a front storage console, and overhead console add versatility. A 3.5-liter, 235-hp DOHC V6 with variable valve timing is matched to a 5-speed automatic and gets 18/25 mpg. Riding on 16-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, the 2008 Quest Base earns five stars in front and side impact tests thanks to traction control, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, dual front, side impact, and side curtain airbags, and a tire monitor. An auto-dimming rearview mirror is optional. Other options are a remote garage opener, compass, running boards and splash guards, and a DVD player with wireless headsets.
