Stepping up to the second-tier STX trim will provide the F-150 buyer with a much more pleasant environment than the base XL version. Added features include cloth seats, air conditioning, a CD player and an MP3 input. Like the XL, the STX is available only with the Regular and Super Cab bodies, but both drive trains and bed lengths are offered.

The Flareside body first becomes available at this trim level. Ten STX variations are available, and eight are powered by the 4.6-liter V8, which provides 248 horsepower and 293 pound-feet of torque. All V8s are mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
