The 1984 Chevrolet Corvette was the first of the fourth generation (C4). It featured a complete redesign with the exception of the driveline. It was well-received by both consumers and press, and was highly praised for its tight cornering, aerodynamic appearance, and overall performance.
The base engine remained a 350-ci V8 rated at 205 horsepower. Again, no other choices were available. Buyers could choose a 4+3 transmission, an unusual configuration which combined a 4-speed manual with an automatic overdrive on the top three gears.
