CarGurus' 1984 Toyota Corolla Review

The 1984 Toyota Corolla ushered in the fifth generation of the car. The 1984 Corolla sedan got front-wheel drive, although the coupe, wagon and liftback remained on the old rear-drive chassis. Toyota kept the new 1.6 liter engine. However, halfway through the model year, the liftback and the coupe got a new engine, a dual-overhead cam version of the 1.6 liter engine with 124 horsepower. This new model was called the GT-S and has earned somewhat of a cult following.

The 1984 Toyota Corolla came in many body styles with several trim levels. The two- and four-door sedan came as a standard, DX or LE. The coupe came as an SR5 or GT-S.. The wagon came as a standard or DX. The liftback came as a SR5 and a GT-S.

Drivers of the 1984 Toyota Corolla sing its praises and many say it is the best car they have ever owned. The car is reliable, easy to maintain, and sturdy. Drivers also like how lightweight and small it is, saying it takes corners beautifully and is easy to park.
