CarGurus' 1988 Toyota Camry Review

The 1988 Toyota Camry came with a new engine option: a 2.5-liter V6 with 153 horsepower and double-overhead cams (DOHC). The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine was still available as well. An all-wheel drive option ("All Trac") was available with the manual transmission for the first time in the 1988 Toyota Camry, too.

Like the 1987 Camry, the '88 edition was available as a four-door station wagon or sedan. The 1988 Camry was available in several trims, including the base model, the DLX, the DLX V6, the DLX All Trac, the LE, the LE V6, and the LE All Trac. The 1988 Camry gets between 20 and 30 mpg for fuel economy, depending on the engine.

Camry enthusiasts still extol the virtues of their 1988 Camrys and advise that with regular maintenance and care, a Camry should last for hundreds of thousands of miles.
