2012 Chevrolet Traverse LTZ AWD Trim Overview

Implied in its moniker, Chevrolet’s top-shelf 2012 Traverse LTZ AWD boasts standard full-time all-wheel drive (AWD) as its main claim to fame. But this 7-passenger midsize crossover doesn’t stop there. Expect 20-inch polished alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and a roof rack to decorate its snazzy profile, with premium leather upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, second-row captain’s chairs and all kinds of leather and simulated alloy accents adorning the cabin. Cruise control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering are, of course, standard, as are such goodies as tri-zone climate control, remote power door locks and windows, reverse-tilt, heated power-adjustable outside mirrors and a universal remote garage door opener. Sun Sensor technology automatically adjusts climate control and interior lighting levels, while memory for driver's settings will help get the journey started in familiar surroundings. Rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera also come standard, with all of this packaged in a frame that’ll stash 116 cubic feet of cargo with the two rear rows of seats folded.

Finally, the standard OnStar Directions & Connections system is integrated with Bluetooth hands-free technology, while the MP3-capable single-CD player churns tunes out of the 10 Bose premium speakers. Finally, satellite radio and a USB port are also included in this impressive audio suite.

Believe it or not, with all those standard goodies, the 2012 Traverse LTZ AWD still manages to remain eligible for such optional amenities as a power sunroof, rear-seat DVD entertainment, a second-row console, a hard-drive-based navigation suite and a trailer towing package that’ll allow this peppy puppy to pull up to 5,200 pounds.

Powering the 2012 Traverse LTZ AWD is the same 3.6-liter V6 that gives its lesser siblings their go. This six-banger, however, is tweaked to put out 288 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque under the auspices of the traditional 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission, again with the handy transmission hill-holder feature. Expect mileage in this flagship trim to remain at 16 mpg city/23 highway, with the AWD system managed by a mechanical limited-slip center differential.

Safety-wise, the award-winning Traverse LTZ AWD sports a standard 4-wheel antilock braking system (ABS), traction and stability control, front side-mounted airbags and three-row head airbags. Daytime running lights, turn-signal-integrated mirrors and OnStar emergency services and alerts also come standard, as does the post-collision safety system and a remote antitheft alarm.
