2012 Chevrolet Sonic LS Trim Overview

New for 2012, the Chevrolet Sonic LS subcompact sedan runs with the class leaders when it comes to exterior styling, performance, handling and interior roominess. Outside, the Sonic LS displays a fresh, aggressive appearance with a dual-element grille, motorcycle-inspired auto on/off headlights, a sculpted hood, prominent fender flares, round taillights and 15-inch wheels. Inside, the Sonic LS's roomy cabin gets such standard features as sport cloth upholstery, air conditioning with an outside temperature display, remote keyless entry, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel and a 4-speaker audio system with an auxiliary input jack. The Sonic LS sedan also receives standard OnStar for 6 months, which includes the Directions and Connections plan with turn-by-turn navigation and vehicle diagnostics.

Power for the front-wheel-drive Sonic LS sedan comes from a 1.8-liter Ecotec 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing. Borrowed from the larger Chevy Cruze, the engine produces 138 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque. It links to a 5-speed manual transmission and posts fuel economy numbers of 26/35 mpg. The Sonic LS comes equipped with a total of 10 airbags, including knee airbags for the driver and passenger, seat-mounted thorax side-impact airbags and roof-rail head curtain airbags for both rows of seating. Other standard safety features include the StabiliTrak stability control system and traction control, as well as 4-wheel antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution.
